Vet in Seychelles - Crystal Tarling

    Nat & Lexie

Really? Tell. I want details. Mandy squealed. You met someone?

Lexie zipped her lips – literally. You could not get her to say another word.

That is so not fair. We’ve been wallowing in this desert and you hold out on us? Lexie stared at Lexie but to no avail. Lexie had met someone and would not give out anything.

I am not saying anything. We might be going out on a real date soon and I do not want to jinx it. Lexie said. We met while out running. He wanted to know where the best gym is so of course I told him the one I go to. At least there is no danger of you trying to steal him.  You would not be seen dead in a gym, Mandy.

I burst out laughing because that was so true. Mandy believed it was exercise to lift her cocktail glass. Shut up. she said. I’m not that bad, am I? We both nodded at her. Oh, well there are plenty of hunks who are not fitness fanatics. I’ll just look for one of those.

I giggled knowing how she would look for one. Another round ladies? The waiter asked. We nodded and he left to get our drinks.

See, I could go for him.  He’s a hunk. Mandy tittered.

And probably half your age. Cougar. I laughed. Our drinks arrived and the waiter winked at Mandy. I giggled.  He must have heard you.

We sat talking for another hour and then went home. I unlocked my front door and went through the back to let my dog out. At night I lock her in to guard the house if I am out. During the day she has the run of the house and yard. No one will break in with her around. She charged out and did her bit and then came in to greet properly. Hey, Inca. I was not gone that long. I patted her head. She pulled her lips up in a grin. I laughed and went to get into bed.  She curled up on the mat next to my bed and was soon snoring gently.

I got up early despite the fact that it was Saturday and I did not need to work. I brushed my teeth and got dressed and went into the garden to weed a bit. My herbs bed needed work and I got out the spade and rake and got busy. An hour later I realised I was hungry and went in to make something to eat. The phone started ringing the minute I sat down to eat.  I sighed and answered it.

Ms Natalia Brielle Norton? a male voice asked.

Yes, who is this? I answered.

Ms Horton, I am Nicolas Josephson, I am your grandmothers lawyer. I am sorry to inform you but she passed away last night.  The funeral is next Monday.  May I make arrangements for you to travel here for the funeral? He asked.

Where is here? And who the hell is this woman who claims to be my grandmother? My parents both told me their parents were deceased years ago. They are both deceased now too so I cannot ask them. I sat down with the phone in my hand, no longer hungry.

"Brielle Adalyn McNaughton was your maternal grandmother. Your mother ran away to marry your father and her mother never saw her again.  I have been trying to trace you for the last 2 years since your grandmother became ill. Unfortunately you were not easy
