- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5After reading pt2 first, I was happy to know what started this series. The way the Author lets you into each characters mind makes this read so worth it. I can say that this is different and I can't think why I won't enjoy the rest of the series.

Rory
A heavy sigh escaped my lips. It was only a year and a half ago that I first laid eyes on her. Jayah, the one who captured my heart. I was browsing the cleaning supplies when I accidentally bumped into her cart. I looked up and saw her, but I wasn't really paying attention. As soon as my apologies left my mouth, she flashed me a gentle smile.
I'm Jayah,
she said, extending her hand. In respect, I shook it and apologized again for my clumsiness.
No worries, I'm still alive,
she replied with a hint of humor in her voice. I couldn't help but chuckle.
Stay safe,
I said, returning the smile and starting to walk away. But before I could get far, she called out to me.
Excuse me, I know I said I'm Jayah, but I didn't catch your name.
I closed my eyes briefly before opening them again. It's Rory.
Nice to meet you, Ms. Rory,
she replied with a mischievous glint in her eye. Can I get your number?
I almost let out a swear word in shock. No woman had ever approached me like this before, and it caught me off guard. But there was something about Jayah that drew me in, and without hesitation, I gave her my number. Little did I know that encounter would change my life forever.
I stood there, 5'5, thick and curvy in all the right places, with shoulder length jet black hair, deep brown eyes, caramel skin, and a face that could stop traffic. She stared me down as I got ready to make my move.
I couldn't help but wonder if she had ever been hit on by another woman before. But I knew I was looking damn good - 5'8, golden brown skin shining in the light, cornrows in the front of my head and singles cascading down the back. My body was toned and fit from all the hours I put in at the gym. And my features? Big hands, full lips, seductive light brown eyes that drew anyone in. So, I flashed her one more smile to seal the deal.
I couldn't deny the electricity between us. Her grin was cute as hell and that gap in her teeth had me hooked. Damn, what is this chic doing to me? Here's my number,
I said boldly. 480 701 2078.
I'll hit you up later. If you're down for some spontaneity, I'll take you for a ride on my Ninja.
As she gave me a sly grin, she turned and strolled in the same direction I had bumped into her cart.
I couldn't believe it. In my 32 years, not once had a woman made a move on me. It was just another day, until Wednesday hit. I worked part-time and had four glorious days off: Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. As an armed security officer for a new AZ company, I loved my schedule of working twelve-hour shifts and then having four days to myself. Today, I was grabbing some cleaning supplies and ingredients for dinner - yeah, I was a single woman, but I wasn't looking for anyone to fill that void, male or female.
With my shopping complete, I made my way to my grandmother’s place. Wednesday was our special day - filled with lively conversations and delicious meals at the local Indian restaurant. My love for Grandma was unconditional. She stepped in as our mother figure after our real one died at the hands of our absent-minded father. One night, she complained of a terrible headache, and he responded by insisting that she take a lethal cocktail of muscle relaxers and Vicodin. She never woke up. He got off with just 2 years in prison for a DUI charge from four years ago. It's a mystery how he managed to avoid punishment for so long, but justice finally caught up with him. Unable to cope with our mother's death, he spiraled
