This short story read is flavorful and interesting. Loved the new, open, and not holding back style. To see a book based out of AZ is quite different. Can't wait to finish the other short stories that accompany this series.

Rory

Hi, may I speak to Rory please? Damn, she even has good manners, I thought. I'm starting to really like this, Jayah. This is Rory. Finally. Yes, finally. I couldn't tell who was more nervous, her or me. But I did ask her to call, so I should probably break the ice.

Hmm, so what made you want my number? I don't know. You could hear the smile in her voice. I just felt a connection with you and couldn't resist. Is that right? Yeah, believe it or not, you're the first woman I've asked for their number. Really? Yeah. Umm, I was married for 6 years.

So, we ended up moving to three different states during my 4 years of service. Oh okay. So, he must have felt abandoned by you. Probably, but I couldn't wait another 9 years to start a family while looking at him every day. It was driving me crazy. I needed a change. I was trying to teach him a lesson, but it looks like I learned the biggest one instead. Even still, he shouldn't have done that.

So have you ever been married? Heck no. I never had time to find the right person. For the past 8 years, I've been taking care of my younger brother and sister. They must be pretty young then. Not anymore. My brother is 23 and my sister is 21. We lost our mother 8 years ago. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah, thanks. It's been tough. My father tried to help relieve her headache but ended up giving her a lethal dose of medication. Oh my, that's why I hate prescription meds. Yeah, me too. If he could go back and change it, he would. He truly loved her. I understand.

"I don't mean to bring the mood down. How about we talk about something else? I've healed from it, but
