    What is the Ketogenic Diet?

    There are a variety of diet plans out there for you to choose from. This is the exact opposite of what many people on the traditional American diet are doing, but it gives amazing results.

    With the traditional American diet, you focus on a different way of eating. Often, you will eat a lot of unhealthy foods, including unhealthy carbs, or processed carbs, lots of fats, sodium and artificial ingredients. While having some of these on occasion won’t derail all of your plans, doing it on a regular basis, which is what most Americans do, can really harm your health and makes it easier to put on weight.

    Even when Americans go on a diet, they seem to have trouble doing it in the proper manner. Many dieting plans extol the virtues of cutting out all fats, saying that fats are the bad guys, that we shouldn’t eat any of them because they cause all the health conditions that we need to worry about.

    This couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, research now talks about how sugars and even processed carbs could be to blame for many of the health conditions we are fighting off today. While carbs aren’t always the bad guys and when used properly, they can be healthy, many of us have fallen into a cycle of choosing bad carbs, carbs that may satisfy some cravings, but are doing nothing to make us healthy. In fact, many time we get into a horrible carb cycle, one that makes it hard to turn down this easy source of fuel for the body, and that is how we gain weight.

    The ketogenic diet, which we are going to discuss in more detail in this guidebook, is a new way of thinking about your diet and the foods that you consume. It allows you to eat a lot of the healthy fats that your body needs (despite what traditional dieting tells us), and keeps you away from most carbs. Most of the carbs that you consume in the diet will come from options like fresh produce.

    There are several different options when it comes to following a ketogenic diet and it often depends on how much weight you need to lose and how bad your carb addiction is. Some of these methods force you to cut down your carbs to just 50 grams each day. This method can really help break the cycle quickly and can ensure you lose a lot of weight, but it is very hard to cut down your carb intake by that much. Many decide to start out by only eating 100 grams of carbs or less and they still see some great results.
