Standard keto involves keeping carb intake to under 50g per day, with most of these carbs coming from leafy greens, non-starchy vegetables and low-sugar fruits such as berries. Rice, bread, pasta, potatoes, most fruits and all forms of sugar are avoided.
About 90g of proteins such as chicken, fish and eggs should be eaten a day. The fat content is pretty high, at roughly 120g a day.
Quality fats like olive oil, nuts and avocado help keep you full between meals and discourage overeating at meal times. A good idea is to track your daily macronutrient intake, especially carbs, until you get a handle on what your portion sizes should look like. Macronutrient ratios for a standard keto plan are: 75% fat, 15%–20% protein and 5%–10% carbs.
