Pat Ritter
Hi Everyone,Let me introduce myself. My name is Pat Ritter. Since 1988 I have been writing and publishing books. In 2009 I decided to publish my books as e-books on this and other websites.Writing and self-publishing became expensive especially the marketing end of the business. I experienced little problems with my first book 'Closing The Gap' however after writing and self-publishing six other books the printing costs out-weighed the cost of production. At this stage of my writing I am converting from writing true life stories to fictional or better known - storytelling and it's difficult I can tell you. I'm giving it my best.Reading is a passion. When I read I try and place myself in the writer's seat and endeavour to work out how they wrote the story. I enjoy reading interesting stories filled with passion, desire with a happy ending. If you have a look at my website www.patritter.com.au all of my books are exhibited plus stories I have written and published.I'm happy to meet you.I'm also proud to be involved in Operation eBook Drop.Pat RitterAuthor/Self Publisher

AT THE CONCLUSION OF THESE (OMR) STORIES I’VE ADDED A STORY OF THE LIFE OF MY GRANDMOTHER AS A BONUS TO THIS BOOK:
A Star Is Torn
Having reached the pinnacle in life. Fall from grace is A Star Is Torn. For example: 1989 I reached the pinnacle in my life by establishing Crimestoppers for Queensland Police. Twenty years-service in the police served to provide me with skills to fulfil this role. At this point in my life I reached the top of my tree.
After establishing Crimestoppers my heart slowly degenerated causing me to have a pacemaker implanted. Because I had a pacemaker I no longer served as a police officer. I crashed into a downward spiral exhibiting A Star Is Torn. Darkness overtook my life. Helplessness overtook my mind and body.
By accident; a couple of years later, skills I learned in the police raised an issue to help my mind climb out of the dark place I rested since having the pacemaker implantation. Blue sky appeared before my eyes. My mind sprung to life exhibiting similar forces before I had my operation. I was alive and well again.
My ambitions to again reach the top of my tree exhibited signs of success. I never again wanted to go through what I experienced a couple of years before. This time instead of climbing my tree of success in Queensland Police, I worked for Queensland Heath in a role of an alcohol and drug counsellor. This role opposite to working as a police officer at the other end of the spectrum.
Instead of working with police officers; I worked with doctors and nurses. This work environment no different to working in the police. No longer at the top of my tree, moreso, deep within the roots. I needed to work my way up to the top of my tree of success again. This took years learning a whole new complete role in helping others overcome their alcohol or drug addiction.
Life deals us strange cards at times. From being a star is torn I reached the top of my tree in alcohol and drug counselling by introducing modern and new programmes to help those less fortunate. This new method grew from a seed in my mind to help many hundreds of sufferers of alcohol and drug addiction. I was no longer a star is torn.

Bad Liar
Instinct, may be? May be born with identifying a bad liar. Whatever the case may be when a person tells me a lie, a small bell tingles in the back of my mind as a warning. I always visualise facts when others are speaking. Facts are truth. Nothing can be truer than the truth.
When growing up through childhood my mother plus grandmother always spoke to me in unexplained manners. Everything they told me sounded unbelievable; far from the truth. I accepted their opinions. In those times women protected their men folk through thick and thin not wanting to rock the boat. To a ten-year-old boy I believed every word which came from my mother’s mouth whether being true or false.
Through my teenage years I met many a fellow teenager who skited how good they were. My naive mind believed each word they shared with me. Until, these conversations couldn’t be believed. About this time in my life when a person told me one of these conversations, a small bell tingled in the back of my mind alerting my memory to analyse facts I was being told. These so-called friends of mine were bad liars.
At twenty-one years old I joined Queensland Police Force. During my training of four months we studied Police Law plus Police Duties. These two subjects were fact. Before I encountered into this type of learning: to learn facts, all law and police duties were repeated parrot fashion. Law was law: Police duties were police duties. Hour upon hour I memorised Police law with Police duties until I repeated each section from the book direct from my memory.
Leaning this manner of repetition plus retention gave me an advantage to analyse when an offence was committed by another person. My mind became a computer linking each detail of conversation with a section of Police law or Police duties. How I retained this information puzzled me because whilst attending school I never used any of these learning practices.
During my Police Force membership; I became a
