Mind you; branding comes in a variety of ways: from creating an impressive reputation to invoking a lasting emotion in people. For instance, Richard Branson is a billionaire entrepreneur who has created a personal brand from his reputation and warm personality. In fact, people relate more to his products due to his impeccable personal brand. Yes, it is an effective marketing theme that helps to distinguish yourself or product from other competitors.

    Your personal brand is a way of selling yourself; a means of creating an image to define all that you embody. Think of it as a reflection of your true personality. Your personal brand differentiates you from the world, and broadcasts who you are, what you stand for, and what you have to contribute. Here's a fact: you have a personal brand already whether you like it or not. Not convinced? Here's a proof: think of someone you know and observe the thoughts that flood your mind. The person's brand image is the sum of all those memories.

    Therefore, there's never been a better time to create a personal brand than this present era. Why? It's so easy to lose your sense of identity in a highly competitive and rapidly evolving world. In addition to this, the influx of disruptive technologies such as the internet has made it crucial to create an identity for yourself. Remember it is your brand that cultivates your power to be unique. Consequently, it's your uniqueness that draws people to your services, products, and lifestyle.

    Branding is For Everyone

    Most people think branding is limited to only business entities. Well, they are wrong. In the business world, brands are everything. In fact, brands make up for 30 percent of the stock value for S&P 500 Index companies. Here's a thought to ponder on: do you know why people prefer to buy the latest Apple products irrespective of their high prices when compared to other devices with similar features? That's not all: designer brands like Ralph Lauren and Chanel are able to demand high prices for their products due to the power of their brands. Do you still need more examples to show you the inherent power in creating a brand? I guess not. Just as these businesses were able to create an identity for themselves in their respective niches, you also can create the same effect via personal branding. Personal branding, I believe, is not only for an entrepreneur that owns a business. Rather, it's the needed ingredient to make you unique in any field irrespective of the position you occupy. Besides, people will create a personal brand for you if you don't create one for yourself. So, which do you prefer—creating a personal branding that best reflects your skills, values, and personality or an identity based on other's perception of you?

    Social media: the perfect platform for personal branding

    It's not enough to know the tricks and strategies for creating a personal brand. In fact, your strategies are ineffective if you don't have a platform via which you can create your brand. Therefore, you need a platform where you can successfully showcase your personal brand. No doubt, social media platforms are the best place to start when building a personal brand. Thankfully we live in an increasingly transparent world where we have access to people in different geographical locations and in different positions. Today, it's easy to communicate with people like Oprah Winfrey or Richard Branson by sending a tweet or a Facebook message. Mind you; this would have been difficult to do due to the myriad of barriers you would have to pass before you communicate with people of such status. Personally, I would say social media evens the playing field and gives you a prime opportunity to sell yourself and achieve your dreams. All you have to do is get people to pay attention to your content and let your profile stand out amidst the jumble and clutter of digital noise. Irrespective of the social media platform you choose to operate from, building a personal brand requires setting yourself apart. No doubt, there are lots of intricacies involved in building a personal brand on social media. However, you can be assured of success once you find your desired audience and create the right content to suit their taste. With time, people will start to trust your authority in your respective niche, and before you know it, you become the go-to guy you've always wanted to be.
