Introduction
P
eace of mind is always a prior necessity but often hindered somehow. Its hindrance is like a stir in our mind bowl. Well, there are numeral factors that are the root cause for hindering peace of mind. When we dip into its study, we realize that no matter how much we try to cover all the factors, some topics remains uncovered.
A debate keeps whirling inside a mind with some questions, what hinder your peace of mind? Is it society or your parents? Is it your spouse or friends may be? Well definitely NO should be the answer. The one who hinder your peace of mind is none other than you yourselves!! Yes, we are the one who enslaved ourselves in the cacophony of our thoughts and just keep wandering here and there to find the key to flee from that prison.
The More we look for the escape the more they are huddled and our surrounding skims the factors invoking continuous hindrances. We live in a society where we talk about gender equality and provide reservation to females. We have a society where in one instance, we regard women as powerful one and on the other hand a vulnerable one, our laws are so strict that they can’t even stop rapes. In the Hunt of jobs, we have become slaves, slaves of Identity, status, Prestige and Financial needs. We live with the evil and good aspect but we are mostly pampered with the evil one. We are so much intoxicated with our own hindrances that we somewhere find ourselves in between of unending dilemma. We have so much to talk but end up without uttering a word.
Believe it or not but our strength become our worst enemy when we fail to keep a fine line between strength and the weakness. Most of the time it happens that our mind keeps our strength in the surrounding fence of weakness overshadowed by the weakness fail to realize that somewhere there lies a strength. Weakness is not a problem but a delusion by it creates problem. But it is the fact that problem likes us more. Whenever we think, are we scared of the outcome? the answer is always firm no
because we are just screwed by our overthinking.
We are often illusioned that our problems left us but it is like a shadow never leaving you comes with you in the form of nervousness and welcomes you by lowering your self-esteem. It’s not about the mistakes that changes us to someone new but about the realization that it keeps draining us not letting to have peace.
If you are searching for peace then first find out by whom and why did it go away from you!!
The book discloses some real-life incidents of hindering peace of mind by self through some of the elements: Stress, Anxiety, Anger, Overthinking, Overconfidence, Superstition, Belief, etc. If we will analyze closely the problems we face then we will realize that probability of its occurrence, is most of the time are we ourselves.
After reading the book you will realize that HOW YOU HINDER YOUR OWN PEACE OF MIND!
STRESS
H
ey man, don’t stress me out! We’ve all experienced stress from threats, fears, uncertainty, and cognitive dissonance (the gap between what we think and what we do). In short during its inception, it is so small that most of the time it is neglected and we get trapped with its value-added trauma.
Stress is an expression of the body’s natural instinct to protect itself. Paul Rosch, MD, chairman (AIS) says that our stress response was exquisitely honed over millions of years as a protective mechanism, that was okay for our ancestors who ran into saber-toothed tigers. The tragedy is that today, it’s not that, but hundreds of things such as job, school, financial hardships, conflicts, health issues, and even getting stuck in traffic jam, and our body responds in some unfortunate fashion like hypertension, strokes, and ulcers.
While men and women can react similarly in many situations, stressful or otherwise, there does seem to be some difference in how men and women react to stress. While the exact mechanisms aren't clear, and findings are conflicting. Some research suggests that differences in the brain and body may make women more physically and emotionally sensitive to certain types of fear. While the prolonged stress can negatively affect your physical and emotional health. The effects of chronic bad stress are well known. Your nervous system reacts by continuing to pump out excess stress hormones that wear out the body’s reserves and leave you feeling depleted. Your immune system is compromised, leaving you more prone to infections. Your blood pressure is elevated; you have an upset stomach, headache, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and arthritis.
How about your mind? Your brain is no exception. Dr. Cheryl Conrad, Professor of Psychology at Arizona State University, studies the effects of stress on the brain. How stress influences brain plasticity—the brain’s ability to morph. Dr. Conrad believes that while the stress response is key to organism survival,
chronic activation has significant negative consequences on brain plasticity and resilience. Reduced brain plasticity may be a factor in depression, anxiety, PTSD and even Alzheimer’s disease. By studying stress and neuroplasticity, Dr. Conrad hopes to uncover how we become resilient, the mechanisms by which chronic stress alters neuronal morphology and function, and the factors that influence recovery and resilience.
Puissant Orator
~ Subathra P.
A Motivational speaker invited as a chief guest for a year-end function of leading corporate firm, and decorated the stage with his presence. A tone of applauding greeted him, manifesting their excitement to hear his words.
Warm greetings to techies over here, I would like to have the honor of delivering few words with your consent
, he inaugurated the function with huge round of applause.
’So, whom do you think has the most stressful job in the firm. Let me know which designation is mostly filled with stress?"
Answers were flooded by the audience, and everyone justified their own job as most stressful one, whether it was
an intern or entry level candidate or senior most staff. Few didn’t answer maintaining etiquette in the gathering but their inner self-wanted to answer, it's their designation in obvious.
The speaker smiled at their response and continued his speech, I'm delighted to hear your honest words, so you guys not ready to take up the responsibility if, you have been promoted?
This question created chaos among the members but they decided to hear on the first phase with curiosity. Yet one among the gathering who turned out to be an intern kept his words before the speaker.
Sir, I'm ready to take the responsibility. I’m sure next position is going to be stress free
.
You think so? How can you be sure?
, speaker was perplexed by the guy’s statement.
I have seen people relaxing and enjoying most of the time, while we intern were always into work
,
his confident voice grabbed the whole attention and some deadly glared toward him.
You mean tasks given to you are time consuming and theirs were less consuming compared to yours?
,
Speaker wanted to make sure what is the exact meaning of the guy's statement.
Exactly that's my point.
He was sure that his statement
is nothing but fact unaware of the actual truth.
Thanks, gentleman, I have a few more questions, shall I?
, the speaker sought permission from the guy.
Sure Sir, go ahead
,the guy gave his approval to the speaker with pleasure.
When you started your career in this firm as a fresher?
,
his illogical question increased the curiosity.
2 months back
.
His state is no less than bemused.
How much time you took to complete the task given to you on early days?
.
This question of the speaker sent some clarification in people and they were accorded with little clearance where he was taking the session to.
Sometimes I have to work after office hours to submit it on time
, he answered with sincerity.
... and now?
, yet another question from the speaker.
I'm used to it, so I complete it in office hours.
Here he unconsciously gave clarity to everyone.
"There goes the explanation, people next to your position have already
