September 8, 1812, Kent, England

I don’t usually talk about 1812, it’s too painful, too traumatizing. But since you’ve taken the time to hear my story, I’ll tell you the terrible events of how I came to be what I am. I shudder every time I remember that evening, especially since the day had started out so happy. You see, the following morning, on September 9th, I was marrying my William, whom I’d loved as far back as I could remember.
