How to Find Your Soulmate Pet - Rhonda H. Luebs

    Author

    Chapter 1

    How It All Started

When I first got interested in the world of the Chinese Zodiac, I wanted to learn how individuals worked together. I never imagined that it could end up helping me to find the pets that would have such a profound impact on my life.

I love the idea of being able to find matches that complement our personalities. I don’t believe that matchmaking should be limited to just human relationships. After all, we have intimate bonds with the world around us, including the animals in our world. For those of us who choose to have domestic pets, the relationships with our animals can have a large impact on how we live.

I have had several pets over the years, and some of them have been with me during some difficult transitions; I found that my relationship with my pets had an impact on me, and how I handled the tough journey. I do believe it is possible to realize a deep and close personal connection with your pets, much like you do with your family and friends of the human persuasion. Let me introduce you to my first pet, Chia, and how she helped me through a very difficult part of my life.

    Chia

My first pet was Chia. I didn’t use the zodiac as a method to match myself with her, but she turned out to be one of my soul pets. When my husband passed away, it was as if Chia had a true understanding of what I was going through as part of the grieving process.

She was a comfort and a friend during this incredibly difficult time. Her love and understanding was so important, especially on those nights that seemed to go on forever in the wake of my grief. Moments when I was struggling emotionally were eased by a quiet woof and snuggle, as if she was telling me, I am here, and it will be okay.

Chia was 17 years old (119 doggy years) when she passed away. Four years had passed and it came time to find another pet. The house was so empty without an animal spirit in it. I thought that no one could possibly come close to the relationship that Chia and I had, so I was reluctant to even consider adding another animal to my life, in spite of the fact that our house was clearly missing something. What if there was a way to guarantee a perfect match? I found that there was a way to ensure that I had a great bond with my future pets, just by knowing when they were born.

Before I start sharing my experiences with the zodiac, I want to share with you how I first used it to search out a pet for my family.

    Puff and Magic

In the summer of 2012, I was in the position of trying to compromise with my fiancée, Ron. He wanted cats, but it had been four years since I had owned a pet. Plus, I was a dog person. The old adage that cat and dog people don’t mix came to mind. Needless to say, I felt that we would be stepping into uncharted and challenging territory.

I had been a student of the Chinese Zodiac prior to this point. There were many benefits to examining the traits of people born in different years and months of the Chinese Zodiac, so I wondered if it might translate to my pets.

I thought, why not use the Chinese Zodiac to see if I could find the best matching cat for our household. What made that thought pop into my head? As a health practitioner, I have always used the zodiac to match people, and understand them better. It seemed like a good idea to try it with our pets. We found Puff, and he was a perfect match for Ron and I. Our lives are busy, so I thought I should find a friend for Puff; 4 months later, we got his friend, Magic. Both were born in the year of the Dragon and, since I was born in the year of the Monkey, we proved to be a good match.

How is that possible, you may ask? According to the Chinese Zodiac, Dragon and Monkey have the highest matchability and, on a scale of 1 to 10, they are a 10 with me. Ron’s birthday gave him a match of 8 out of 10 with the cats. With the cats both being Dragons, they were measured at a 9 to each other. Since Ron and I, and the cats, all had high matchability with each other, the last 4 years have gone off without an incident or any real problems. I would have to say that they are the best pets that have ever owned me.

The Chinese Zodiac is a method of learning about others based on traits that are embedded at birth. So, the idea is that we are more likely to get along with individuals, or our pets, based on our birthdays. But more about how the zodiac works will come later.

Match My Pet – The Beginning

Three years later, in April of 2015, I was at a Guerilla Business School event that was hosted by New Peaks in Los Angeles. As part of the event, I was required to write out a mission statement and my vision for my business. I already had an idea in my head but while being surrounded by all those inspiring people, the mission of Match My Pet hit me like a thunderbolt. Now I knew what I wanted my business to do. I wanted to be a matchmaker! I wanted to match people to their Soul pet, and by the thousands. After all, it had worked for Ron and I. Puff and Magic were dream pets for us. I wanted others to be able to enjoy that same warm and close relationship with their pets.

Throughout my time as a health practitioner, I have worked with people in a state of transition. These could be a variety of transitions, some of which could include divorce, the death of a spouse or a child, or even when our children move out and we become empty nesters. Humans deal with transitions in a variety of ways. They can buy a new outfit, move to a new state, quit a job they find unfulfilling, move on to a new intimate relationship, or even change their hair. The last one doesn’t always end well. The saying, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, should probably apply to the spontaneous hair and tattoo choices that many of us make in the wake of a major life upheaval.

These evolutions do not affect just the humans in these relationships, but their pets as well. How are the pets
