Chapter 1.

Matters of The Heart

At the heart of each of us, whatever our imperfections, there exists a silent pulse of perfect rhythm, which is absolutely individual and unique, and yet which connects us to everything else. -George Leonard

I think that the Beatles put it best when they said, All you need is love. Love is the highest form of energy. Love is in every last one of us, but sometimes we keep this energy buried deep down inside. This is what is known as a heart wall.

The human heart is symbolic of the spiritual heart in many ways. They both have pathways that allow for life enriching components to be transported in and out. Also, they can both become clogged, blocked or hardened, resulting in the restriction of circulation and flow.

In the human heart, once blocked and without an adequate supply of blood flowing through its main arteries, the heart becomes starved of oxygen and the vital nutrients that it needs to function properly. This is how a heart attack usually occurs.

In the spiritual heart, once blocked and without an adequate supply of positive energy flowing through its main pathway’s, the spiritual heart becomes starved of love. This is how the hardening of the spiritual heart occurs.

Symptoms of the hardening of the spiritual heart include feeling unloved, a lack of joy, being hypersensitive, feeling down and feelings of isolation. This is why it is important to allow love energy to flow freely to and from the spiritual heart. Later in the book, you’ll be given the twelve specific ways in which you can do this.

So why choose love, you may be asking by now. Because love is everywhere and its spark is in everything, but if you do not know how to ignite this spark then you will feel a lack of love. Ever heard the saying that love makes the world go round? Just think about how many songs have been written about it. All of life is a manifestation of love. Love is truth. Yeah, it may come with a little risk sometimes, but it’s well worth it! Love can be long lasting if you are willing to put your heart into it. Love can also motivate us to soar and to accomplish things we may have believed were impossible. Experiencing this state of love allows us to enhance our own inner creativity. Love is ultimately the source of the deepest and the most profound feelings within us.

Building A Strong Foundation For Love

Before we can give love to or receive love from others, we must first learn to discover our own self-loving energy. People can become dependent upon getting love from an outside source when they are unaware of their own self-loving energy or when they place their
