Introduction
Whether you are recovering from an injury, an addiction, or an illness you need the immune system to be strong to help recovery go faster. The immune system helps to fight germs to ward off illnesses and to strengthen the body to heal from injuries. Dieting is the best way to boost the immune system. By eating healthy foods, the body is able to pull the nutrients from the foods and those nutrients help to strengthen the immune system. Proper nutrition helps the body to recover faster.
The clean diet promotes foods that will help to boost the immune system. The best nutrients are the anti-oxidants, which help to fight off free radicals. These also help to make the whole body healthier. Anti-oxidants are naturally found in vegetables and fruits. Vegetables and fruits are a big part of a clean food diet. Sure, you can take supplements that contain these nutrients, and they do help the body, however, consuming these nutrients in the foods is the best way to get them. The body knows exactly how to assimilate nutrients out of the foods. A supplement just does not have as much power as eating whole, nutritious foods.
This book will help with the menu planning to plan meals for weeks that are all clean foods, which will help to heal your body. You will be able to fill your plate with good vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats that will build your body, boost your immune system, and make you stronger and healthier.
There are other things you can do to aid in your recovery in addition to the diet. One of them is to get adequate rest. Because of the busy lifestyles of today, many people do not get enough good sleep. They may stay up too late, and then get up early. Or they may feel stressed and unable to relax good enough to fall into a deep sleep. It is vital to give the body a chance to revitalize by resting. If it is possible, try to take a cat nap
during the day. Even if you just set an alarm or timer for 20 minutes, you will feel so much better for taking the nap. Ideally, you need to try to get at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep. If you feel fatigued during the day, try for 8 hours. If you have troubles falling asleep at night devise a bedtime routine. Try taking a relaxing warm bath, sit back, and let your body go limp. The hot moist air will help to bring on lethargy. Dress comfortably for sleep. Sit back in a recliner and watch some mindless TV show, allow yourself to doze off. Or read a book until you feel sleepy.
Talk with your health care provider about exercising. Depending on what kind of recovery you are facing, you may be able to do certain exercises. Physical activity is very beneficial for the body, even for those recovering. Find out your limitations and adopt an exercise routine that will keep your body moving, even if it is simple walking, or lifting hand weights. Some exercise is better than no exercise.
If you are truly serious about a healthy recovery, no matter the reason for recovering, you should break your bad habits. Smoking is one of the worse things you can do your body. Smoking cigarettes will weaken the immune system and be detrimental to your recovery. Plus if you are recovering from an illness, smoking increases your chances of coming down with lung related illnesses like pneumonia or even the flu. Break this bad habit if you want your recovery to place you in a place of better health.
Alcohol is another bad habit you should bust if you drink it. If you really enjoy your alcohol, limit it to one or two drinks a day. Alcohol is tough on the liver and can hinder recovery time. Drinking alcohol in excess will cause the immune system to be compromised because of the way it suppresses white blood cell production. If the white blood cells are suppressed, the body cannot fight off germs. Instead of recovery being faster it will hinder it, as it will have to deal with other germs and illnesses.
If you are stressed you will hinder your recovery time. Finding ways to deal with stress will help to facilitate recovery. Stress hurts the entire body, not just the mental status. It shows up as a weakened immune system. Eating a healthy clean food diet will help the body to better deal with stress. Diet also affects the moods and emotions, if these are elevated, then stress will not bother you as much, or you will not become as stressed.
Are you over weight? Excessive weight can hinder a recovery. Excessive weight can cause or aggravate other health issues like bone problems, hypertension, cardio vascular disease. But there is good news here, eating a healthy diet even if you cannot exercise, will help to lose the weight and maintain a proper weight level.
Your attitude plays a big role in your recovery time. Make sure you keep a positive outlook on life and work to keep the attitude in check. Dieting is a major factor in recover, but dieting with a positive attitude will help to bring about a full recovery faster.
Keep the water coming. Water is beneficial for healthy people but more so for those recovering. The body is made up of a lot of water, and the body needs an intake of water constantly to keep it healthy. Without water, a person will die within a few days. You should keep a glass or bottle of water with you at all times. Sip on it all day, and drink it when thirsty. Water helps to cleanse the inside of the body, much as it cleanses the outside of the body when you shower. If the inside of the body is hydrated and cleansed, the body will be able to handle recovery better.
