The continuous story is about four young girls who get a pair of jeans which fits all of them very well although all of them have different shapes and sizes.
The four major characters in the novel are Lena Kaligaris, Tabitha Rollins, Bridget Veerland, and Carmen Lowell. Tabitha is referred to as ‘Tibby’ and Bridget as ‘Bee.’

Chapter One: Introduction
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
by Ann Brashares is a series of five best selling books. These young adult novels were released by Random House.
The continuous story is about four young girls who get a pair of jeans which fits all of them very well although all of them have different shapes and sizes.
The four major characters in the novel are Lena Kaligaris, Tabitha Rollins, Bridget Veerland, and Carmen Lowell. Tabitha is referred to as ‘Tibby’ and Bridget as ‘Bee.’
The opening prologue and epilogue have been delivered by Carmen in the first person.
As the series begins, the four young girls happen to be in their sophomore year in high school. The story continues for four consecutive summers. Eventually, it ends with the summer break after their freshman year of college.
The story describes the girls’ development in several ways. However, they aim to become individuals, yet keeping their childhood friendship intact and it keeps them together and whole.
The fifth book was released in 2011. This book begins after ten years of the last book. As this book begins, the girls are about to turn thirty.
"The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ is the first book of the series. It proved to be highly successful novel and it got a lot of popularity among young adult leaders.
Chapter Two: Plot Overview
The book opens with Carmen buying a pair of jeans at a thrift shop. She tries them on and magically they fit her and her best friends Lena, Tibby, and Bridget. Although they have different body shapes and different sizes, yet the pair of jeans fits them all when they try them on.
It transpires that the mothers of the girls were in a prenatal aerobics class together so it can be said that the girls had met before their birth.
Now the girls are spending their summer at different places. This is their first important separation. It transpires that Carmen is going to South Carolina to spend the summer with her father.
Lena is going to Greece with her sister, Effie. They will be spending their summer with their grandparents in Greece.
Bridget will be spending her summer at a soccer camp in Baja California, Mexico.
It is only Tibby who will be staying home in Bethesda, Maryland. She will be working at a superstore called Wallman’s.
Before their departure to their different summer destinations, the girls have a friendship ceremony at Gilda’s gym. Their mother’s had met at that place several years before. The girls want to stay close while they are apart, so they vow to send the pants to one another throughout the summer. The call those pants ‘Traveling Pants.’
Tibby is not pleased because she will be working at Wallman’s. She immediate hates that store.
Carmen reaches South Carolina but she is surprised by her father when he informs her hat he is engaged. He says that his fiancée, Lydia, has two teenage stepchildren, Paul and Krista.
It transpires that Carmen is half Puerto Rican. With this announcement by her father and the mention of this new family, Carmen begins to feel out of place.
Lena’s grandmother tries to set Lena up with a Greek boy named Kostos, in Greece, but
