About this ebook

A Symphony From Heaven is a collection of poems that speak to the whole-man. Your spirit will be stirred by the poetry and scripture references and your mind and emotions will relate to the commentary that gives insight into the poems and the author’s love affair with God. As you read each poem you are gifted with glimpses of conversation between the author and the Holy Spirit that inspire and invite you to experience the same type of relationship.
The refreshingly pure deliverance of each poem catches the reader’s attention, giving them pause in their daily routine and causes them to give into the peace that surrounds them with each written line. The knowledge shared by the author is given throughout the commentary coupled with questions meant to provoke meditation on one’s own relationship with God. There is one message that reverberates throughout the book. God wants a deeper and more intimate relationship with his children. Some of the 50 poems that fill this book may bring tears to your eyes, others, the smarting of conviction and still some others, inspiration and the encouragement that comes from the conveyance of His grace and mercy, but not one duplicates the other or sounds redundant. They only speak one true message of the love of a Father for His children.

    PROLOGUE

As a child and young adult I loved to read. I marveled at how authors were able to find the exact right words to describe emotions, views and impressions of life. I imagined them with thousands of thesauruses and dictionaries in varieties of languages. Then wondered how they found the right word in all those books. As I began to write I found that more than trying to find that perfect word, I was writing a story to myself. I wrote short stories and poetry that didn’t leave my room for fear of criticism, but I held them dear because they were like a gift to me.

Over the past few years I’ve noticed how the Lord has used me – his vessel to write what He needs heard. Once I saw the curve in the style of poetry painted across my paper I became excited and a bit anxious. He was speaking to me. Through me. I had yet to realize the responsibilities connected to this blessed gift. As I matured in my walk, stumbling and tripping (but quickly righted by Him) I wanted to share what he had given me with others.

I am fortunate to have caring friends that get as excited as I do over this anointing. Their walk and faith is so strong, they knew even before I, what was needed of me.

    Obedience. He waits patiently.

Know that as these poems speak to you they speak to me. Loving, caring, scolding, molding, warning, giving, and as patiently from the beginning, waiting.

    Birth of a Desire

    A Picture of Light-Hearted Emotion

I want to make people laugh and cry.

Sing with sympathy and see red with anger.

I want to play an instrument that will send people back in time with a single chord.

A couple sitting on a hill, a background full of a fading sunset.

A sunrise colored gray, full of deceit and unfairness.

A winter that stole the life from people’s hearts and made captives of their minds.

Looking through a window at a day full of promise.

Boats rowing quietly and peacefully along a lake. The water reflecting the emotions of the couple’s past.

Stilled is the picture, as recognition of your life passing before you,

    comes into view.

I want to make people hurt for the lonely and rise with joy for the ones who come close to eternal victory.

I want people to see that you can’t fight against life because no one ever wins. At the end there is only life or death. Not man.

I wanted to paint a picture that would light the way of many and dim the hearts that helped smother my glow.

But I only have a pen and paper and I must do the best I can.

Oooh, she wanted to provoke people to anger. Yes. I admit it.

I didn’t know what it was called at the time, but the best word for it now is righteous indignation. Righteous indignation for all innocence lost in this world being taken over by perversion. The lives lost due to lack of knowledge.

Compassion. The Lord is calling for compassion. How easy is it with pain, unforgiveness, financial worries, family problems, sickness, and ignorance sitting on your shoulders?

How do you help someone else with their problems when you aren’t listening for want of getting your problems heard?

Set your worries at the feet of the Lord. Understand that He wants to bless you with good health, peace in your family, prosperity, wisdom, and love.

This book is a desire set in me many years ago. The Lord is faithful. Trust Him to take care of everything and you can spend more time giving to someone else who is in need.

    Create a positive cycle.

    My First Assignment

I see you there talking to yourself, wanting to communicate with someone who understands your joy.

Don’t you feel when I am near? It’s the love that surrounds you, spilling over, reaching out to others.

You have cups and saucers filled to the brim, remaining full. For your well is never dry.

Share your love with the others. It is such a simple thing to do.

I have given you communication skills that go sorely untried. Do not fear making a fool of yourself in my name.

For if some interpret it that way they are the real fools and will look as such on Judgment Day.

You have come far and you have farther yet to go.

Take my blessings and be content with the gifts you already have. When you learn to use them in my name you will be all the more blessed.

And prosperity will seek you out.

    From God

    Reasons

My sister and I tell each other jokes just about everyday. There was one I told her a while ago that went right over her head. So I began to explain it, knowing that something had already been lost.

She stopped me in mid-sentence, saying, If you have to explain it. It isn’t going to work.

As you well know, poems are something totally different, and so I feel justified in explaining why I chose to share the work laying before you without fearing the loss of anything vital.

I have always considered myself a giver. And, as much as I wanted this to be true, I had been shown that when I gave I expected something in return. Not so much worldly materials as attention, emotion, a little praise even. I wanted the happiness, the joy, even the pain. I was addicted to emotion, which made me dramatic in just about everything I did. I searched for the reasons in everything I did, trying to find some credence in peoples’ actions and my reactions. Do you know how tiring that became? All that extra effort I could have used looking for God instead of looking for reasons.

Well if you are anything like me, I will save you the time and give you the reasons for this book right now so you can concentrate on the rest of His gifts.

Some of the reasons we slip, trip, stumble or fall now and then are; we feel shut off from one another and all of God’s creations. We are looking for love
