About this ebook

Valerie wakes in a holding cell of a mental hospital, away from Todd, the man she has fallen in love with, as well as her best friend, Jennifer. She quickly learns that the only person willing to help her now is an attendant named Rodney who believes her story about the otherworldly creature that truly murdered the people she has been incarcerated for committing.

But Rodney is an experienced paranormal expert, and he holds a terrifying fact about the case. The ghost, he reveals, is not simply one girl but many young dead girls who manifest in the same form, haunting those it marks for their entire lives. His life too has been forever shaken by this being, and his despair makes them strong allies in a fight to end the existence of the spirit that has ruined Valerie’s life and separated her from her love.

As victims continue to pile up from the being that has tormented both Valerie and Todd since they were both children, Rodney seeks answers to help the couple. The solution to their problems, however, will require huge sacrifices, and the risks that the trio takes could lead to their salvation or an even worse situation than being held in a mental hospital. Every day matters in this supernatural romantic thriller that delves into a dark legend and rends people from their lives.

    CHAPTER 1

When Valerie woke up, she found herself in bed in what appeared to be some sort of holding cell. She looked around and saw that there wasn’t much in the room, other than the gray walls that immediately emitted a feeling that was both lifeless and soulless, and it was clearly not a regular jail cell. Her last memory had been of her waking up with her newfound lover, Todd, and being taken in for questioning over the murders that had occurred at the haunted house. After that she could remember nothing, although it was now clear that somewhere along the line, something had apparently gone wrong. As she got up and looked outside the small window on the door of the room, she saw a nurse walking by. She made eye contact with the female nurse, who quickly looked away as if Valerie were some sort of caged animal.

Valerie finally figured it out – she was in a mental hospital. She was locked up in a mental hospital. She was restrained in a small room, and she quickly realized that she was locked up in here because they thought she was not only insane but dangerous. She had been labeled as insane her entire life, mostly by her classmates at school, many of which had given her their own personal punishments for how they perceived her to actually be. None of the bullying she had experienced had ever given her the feeling of fear and urgency that she was experiencing at that moment. She was considered insane and dangerous. She knew that if she was thought to be a murderer, then Todd would be too, and hopefully he was in the same building. One look outside the back window in her cell showed that she was in the same town she’d always been in and that she must be being held, hopefully temporarily, in her town’s local mental hospital. At least she wasn’t far from home, she thought. At least Todd might be near. She wanted to talk to Todd. She wanted to talk to Jennifer. She even would’ve talked to Jon or Jesito or Kerns right then, just to hear a human voice, just to get some semblance of an idea of what was going on right then, but then she quickly corrected herself and remembered that the three of them had been killed. Kerns had been killed right in
