She went on to attend California State University, Dominguez Hills and continued her pursuing her writing interests by interning at KTLA, a Los Angeles television station. She also became a sports writer for two community newspapers. She would attend sporting events and write articles on the games. Chapter One

Well, lovely of my family to call a meeting about me but you forgot to actually invite me. Alex said, his voice dripping with bitter sarcasm.

Alex. Courtney said but George had stood up as well.

Alex, back from Shanghai already? Thought it was yesterday.

No, you didn’t, Courtney thought, you planned this. You knew if Alex saw his entire family and myself here speaking out against him that it would affect him more than any vote would. Courtney should have seen it. In her desire to help Alex and figure out what George had been planning, she had fallen directly into his stupid scheme.

Is that so? Alex asked George, his voice growing colder with each word, Well, I’m flattered you all wanted to discuss me so badly you couldn’t wait until I returned.

Alex, wait, Courtney said, trying to move past George, This isn’t what it looks like.

I think I’ve seen enough. He said and turned around, leaving the room.

Courtney wanted to punch George in his smug face but now wasn’t the time. Without saying anything else to the family, she ran after Alex. She had to explain to him that she wasn’t involved in this stupid vote. She had gone to the meeting to try to find out information for him. Surely he will listen to reason…right?

But when Courtney caught up to Alex near the front door, she could tell he was furious. That didn’t bode well with him listening to her. She was going to try anyway.

Alex! She said, jogging up to him.

He didn’t turn around. He opened the front door and stepped outside. Courtney stopped the door from shutting on her and slid through the opening, shutting it behind her. She reached for his arm and pulled him back. He yanked his arm away and turned on her.

What? Alex snapped.

You have to believe I didn’t have anything to do with that, Courtney said, You know I wouldn’t go behind your back.

Then why the hell were you there?

George wanted me to go so I went only because I wanted to see what they were planning, Alex! He wants you out of the company but he has nothing to go off of! I thought if I got information it could help you-
