About this ebook
Autism is not a mental illness. In this book learn from an adult with autism how Autism was turned into a mental illness by insurance companies. Autism is a social disorder. Learn how your child receives no social treatments and only receives treatment for mental health. Learn how to advocate for your child and seek effective social skills treatments that help with living with Autism.
Social context is very important when learning social skills. Autism is a social disorder. In Travis' experience with treatment for Autism he has only received medication management and talk therapy. There has been no effort to actually teach him social skills or advanced social concepts like social thinking and social context.
All throughout this book series entitled "How Autism Became America's Most Prominent Mental Illness" you will learn how to better advocate for the social needs of your child on the Autism Spectrum.
Travis shares personal stories of how his mental illness was created at the hands of doctors and professionals who did not understand Autism and out of their lack of knowledge did things and provided treatments that created a mental illness instead of helping to treat Autism.
Travis shares what some of these things are that drove him to become so depressed and attempt suicide so that you the parent have a better understanding of Autism and how it might effect your child and also so you can be better prepared to present your case to insurance providers and medical professionals about how to best help your child.
You the parent, know your child best. You should have a say in what is in your child's treatment plan. Included at the end of each book in this series is an advanced guide book about living with Autism. This helps parents of newly diagnosed children gain a better understanding of Autism and prepares you for the future your child might face.
Thank you to all for taking interest in making the world a better place for those of us living with Autism.
