Robert Bell

Robert Bell was born in the UK and after years of visits finally relocated to Thailand 7 years ago. Initially he lived in Pattaya, but has now relocated to Udon Thani in the North East [Isaan] of Thailand. His first novel, Rough Diamonds, which he has made available for free download, draws heavily on his experiences in his early years living in Thailand, and frequent trips before then. Many of the more surprising events actually happened to him, although they are set in a fictional bar. The characters take traits from various guys he has met in Thailand, as do the locations. The story of the characters, and venues, Robert created continues in Diamond Fellowship and Facets of Thai Diamonds. History is revealed, and they set up a business empire. In his fourth book, Final Closure, a past that Paul Swift thought he'd left behind in Germany, comes to control the present. The fictional sois that Robert created are the backdrop to this thriller, but the characters are new. They realise however, that it isn't Final as his latest book, The Fifth Man, follows Paul as he tracks down the puppet master. Robert is working on a further instalment of the Thai Diamonds story, provisionally entitled 'Polished Diamonds'A short story marks a departure for Robert. The first, 'Clash of Wills' is the story of set in North Yorkshire where Ray returns to take care of his father's funeral and finds things aren't as expected, as he slowly discovers the truth about his father. His time living in Isaan has exposed him to 'Isaan Black Magic' which was the inspiration for two books. 'Run Away From the Tiger, Face The Crocodile' relates the journey of Martin and Rene to overcome their demons at a 'temple' in North East Thailand. They have a feeling that they are dealing with forces they don't understand. In 'The Sesame Seed Burns Before The Cashew Nut Cooks' Sean visits Thailand and meets Tam. Tam believes in Black magic but the events which take place in Udon shake that belief'Filipino Cruz' sees the backdrop change from Thailand to Manila as four young guys decide on their future. The follow up, 'Thai Cruz' sees them visit Thailand. The story will conclude in 'Cruz Control'.For more information visit http://thaidiamondbooks.moonfruit.com

    Cruz Control - Robert Bell

    About Cruz Control

Cruz Control is the third and final part of the Cruz Trilogy. The book, FILIPINO CRUZ, introduces Cruz and his family and friends. The story continues in THAI CRUZ when the guys visit Thailand, even if events in Manila are never far from their minds.

In this final volume, Cruz finally gets things under control, particularly Luke who has been a thorn in the side since the beginning.

    Nut In

Cruz and the guys had created an expectation with Dim and Nut, a situation that Simon didn’t want to exploit, or fall victim to. It would be easy to trade a trip to Manila for sexual favours, as long as they didn’t know what Manila was like. It would be easy to ensure that both of them would be there when he wanted, in return for a trip to the Philippines. It would also be easy for them to use it to their advantage.

Nut he didn’t worry about; Nut was an old friend and was there when needed anyway. He often seemed to be there when he wasn’t needed, not that Simon objected, especially since Cruz and the guys had been over. Simon also knew that Nut would take the decision in his stride; at least he thought he would. He’d known him for a few years, Simon couldn’t remember exactly how many. If Simon said no trip, Nut would just go on as before. After all, there had been disappointments in the past.

Dim was a new find, for the want of a better word. In the old days, long before the Luke orchestrated mess, and when Simon was still a new Farang in Thailand, he’d not have worried. As long as Dim didn’t steal, otherwise rip him off, and provided adequate sexual service he’d have taken him on a trip. Not overseas, but a trip. Of course, it would have been factored into the tips Dim received. Part of Simon thought that there wasn’t really a valid reason for not adopting the same approach, except it was a wedding that he was going to; and he was master of ceremonies. He was already concerned about Luke screwing things up; he didn’t need to throw another potential spanner into the works with Dim. Maybe getting in early and killing the idea would be the best solution.

Simon arrived back in Pattaya, undecided. He got a call from Nut. I know you just arrived back today. Can we meet you tomorrow to eat before work, about six? I’ll pick you up on my motorbike.

It depends on who is we.

Just me and Dim. We’ve been talking. Well I’ve been thinking more than we’ve been talking and I have been talking to Tod. Anyway, Dim and I don’t want you to feel obligated about Manila, and I am not really sure that I can afford the time away from the bar. We can go for a beer and talk, and then meet Dim at the restaurant near his room at seven thirty.

So you want to talk to me first. Is it about Dim? I was joking when I said you needed to prove you were still number one. You are a good friend I can rely on. Dim has certain attractions, but I am not looking to replace you. I’ve known you years, and I’d hope that even when you finish working at the bar, we’ll remain friends.

I know that. I just want to talk about the time with the guys, and about the trip. Alone. I’d like to see them again, but I don’t want you to feel you have to take me, or us. We know each other; I’d rather we talked alone first. I don’t really know Dim, but I’ve asked around. Tod has known him a couple of years. They met when Tod was working in Bangkok. When Tod got the call from Tawat, Tod suggested Dim would be a good team member. Not that he had seen him for six months.

Okay, I understand. You want to talk to me first. Tomorrow? Simon knew there was something else; there always was when meetings were requested to discuss something. He knew he’d find out the real reason when they met.

Yes. Unless you aren’t too tired and want something to eat, or a beer. I could be there in fifteen minutes and we could go to the restaurant near yours, they have good food, you like their sweet and sour.

Simon looked at his watch. It was six, he did want to eat despite, or because of the flight. I’ll wait for you at the restaurant, twenty minutes. And I like all of their food! I eat there most days. It was only a five minute walk, and Simon felt that he been doing a lot of sitting on planes and buses. He’d eaten breakfast in Singapore at the hotel, late, and had skipped the meal on the flight.

Nut was sitting with a beer when Simon arrived. He ordered a beer, some fried rice and sweet and sour fish. Nut ordered fried rice and papaya salad. So what is it that is so important that you need to talk to me before we see Dim?

Well, only what I said on the phone.

Look, I’ve made no decisions. I said I’d give it a month, and I will. I know you are worried about time off, but Sam can run the team whilst you are away. You just need to sort out the numbers with him. Simon realised that he had decided to take Nut, if he wanted to go. I can talk to your boss if it will help.

That’s problem number one. You know his brother visited?

Sam’s? Yes, I remember; he couldn’t join the fun in the hotel. So?

He wants Sam to move back to Surin and help him open a restaurant. At the end of the month.

So you’ve got three weeks to train a new deputy before he goes, and if you go to Manila with me, another month to make sure everything is okay.

I know. I think Nid will be good. He’s older and knows all the routines. But it means I need another dancer. Tod or Dim? I’ve sort of said to both of them there would be a place. No one knows Sam is leaving yet, but as soon as they do. Nut paused.

Simon knew what he was saying, and why he really wanted to meet. Dim and Tod will be chasing the job.

Yes! I know Tod. Dim has a better body, but I don’t really know him, or what he can do, on stage. I haven’t seen him in front of an audience. And I’m not totally sure about Tod, he might try and take over, he can be strong willed. I’d ask Jak, he is a great dancer, but I’ve asked before, he refuses to show his cock. I don’t know why, and he’s got a nice young body. That’s the other thing. Tod is older. I really want a younger guy. That is sort of against Dim as well.

Well you can maybe solve two problems in one, or at least I can help you decide. Talk to the boss and in a few days take a night off, put Nid in charge. Let the boss, and Sam, know it’s a trial for when Sam leaves. I’ll take you to Zeeboys and you can watch the show. Of course, you don’t have to offer either of them a job, you could look elsewhere. Are there any of the go-go boys who could make the step up?

Maybe. And I’d rather have someone young, who can dance, but hasn’t got too many ideas of their own.

"I’ll be honest with you Nut. I think that Tod would only move to Mercury if he was going to be your assistant. I think that would be a disaster, his ideas are totally different. And I’m not sure you could match what Tawat pays him. Dim? I noticed him because of his body and cock. He’s hot and knows it. But as a dancer, from what I’ve seen, the other two Tod had are much better. And, as you say, he’s older than what you are looking for. But if you do want Tod, don’t do it until after
