Tom Langley Sharpe III is a teenager who probably has it all. He is an only child in a wealthy family that owns a ranch that trains race horses. When he was still a teenager, he discovered that he had a thing for other men, at one point even making a hit on Valerie, a man of French decent who worked for them. Valerie works as an all rounder, valet, chauffeur, right hand man for the family, and especially for Thomas Langley Sharpe III, Tom's father. Valerie is very close to the family and knows how the family businesses are run. He informs Thomas of his sons gay trend.

Daniel Peters is an African American guy who has worked on the ranch from a young tender age. He began working on the ranch when he was barely 10 after his parents passed away, and they immediately hit it off with Tom, becoming friends, most especially since they were almost the same age and the only young people on the ranch at the time. Since they become good friends, Tom's father invites him to come and move closer to the ranch house, and when Thomas sees how in love the two young men are, he decides to bring them even closer and asks Daniel to move into the mansion with them. He treats him as his son and affords him all of the luxuries that he gives to his son, Tom.

Tom Langley realizes his intense attraction towards Daniel when he finishes school and comes home. By then Daniel is his horse’s trainer and as Tom tries to get closer to the horse, he and Daniel become even closer, at some point even almost making out in a stream. Tom decides that he cannot keep his feelings a secret and tells Daniel exactly how he feels while they are out camping on the prairie, only to discover that Daniel also has the same feelings. At around the same time, Tom's parents are involved in an accident and pass away. Will Tom continue having the same feelings for Daniel, or will he blame their gay relationship for his parent’s death?

CHAPTER 1

School had finally come to an end and Tom was looking forward to the rest of his life. He was also looking forward to going to learn more about horses on the ranch. He had lived with them all his life, but he had never really learned as much as he wanted to learn about them. His father, Thomas Langley Sharpe II owned a ranch that specialized in rearing and training racehorses, but Tom had never had a proper chance to get close to the horses and learn much about them. He had always been too busy with his school work, even going for tuition during the vacations. He was now however free of that, and it excited him tremendously due to the fact that he was now joining the real world. He was also looking forward to becoming an excellent equestrian with the help of Valerie. Valerie had lived with them ever since he was a little child and Tom had grown fond of him in many different ways.

Valerie knew everything about Tom Langley Sharpe II’s businesses and was his right hand man in running the estate. Tom had gotten a crush on Valerie when he was still sixteen, but Valerie had shown no interest in him, and so Tom had let it go. There was something within him that he could not understand, but Tom felt as if he was more into men than women. He found himself admiring men more and even found them a lot more attractive in a sexual way. He would find himself staring at a man's buttocks more than was necessary, and at times it even scared him, since there were not very many gay people in that part of the country. All of his friend's back in school ha been straight, but maybe Tom had become gay due to the fact that he had been practically brought up by Valerie, hanging around him and other men on the paddocks instead of being out in the city partying with the girls like most of the other young men his age.

What are your plans for today? his dad asked as they sat at the dining table having a late breakfast. I'm pretty sure that you'll be bored hanging around the ranch, but you could ask Valerie to drive you into town to meet up with your friend's.

No, dad, I think I'll just hang around the ranch, and besides, I want to get closer to my stallion, Eagle. You just bought her for me and I want to be there through the training programme, Tom said, placing his cup of tea onto the saucer. Maybe over the weekend I can go into New Orleans to meet up with some of the boys.

I think he has really grown into a mature boy now, Thomas, don’t you think, his mother, Pricilla, regarding him above the rim of her glasses proudly.

Yeah, he is definitely taking after my blood. That is a good thing, Jr., I would also like you to start learning to manage this estate, since it will one day all be yours. Your mother and I aren't going to be here forever, you know, Thomas said.

Yes, dad, I've been thinking about that, and I think I'll start working with Valerie, since he pretty much knows all of the operations on the ranch. I think that it would be best for me to start from down up, that way I'll have a hands on experience on all of the nitty gritty involved, Tom said, wondering how fun it was going to be finally starting to learn of the operations of the ranch and putting some of his schooling into action.

Perfect, you go ahead and let me know how it goes, and if there is anything that you need, his father said, getting up and patting him on the back on his way out of the kitchen.

I'll do that, dad, Tom said, also getting up and pushing his chair back under the table. I'll see you later, mom.

Tom went upstairs to his bedroom so that he could change into some suitable outdoor clothes. He was looking forward to spending time at the stables and the paddocks with Eagle, a white stallion that his father had gotten for him as a gift for his graduation from high school. It was a beautiful horse with a furry tail and hooves, one that Tom knew must have cost his father a pretty dime. Tom was
