    Prelude: EB2

It’s been three days since Mary and the others were ambushed by the Dolomites. They survived the attack with the help of a person not from the planet called, Hunter. He came to the planet to help defend them, but soon found out that he was too late for some. As the Dolomites started to do what they do best, it was only a matter of time before all Earth’s defenses were taken out.

Army’s around the world were wiped out as well. Mary and a team had come to help the people of Kansas City, only to find they were too late. Earth was now over run with these creatures and Mary was starting to think that there may be no hope in survival. Hunter had left the group in search on the Dolomite queen, but when he found the spot where she had been hiding, was now empty.

When he told the group of his findings or lack thereof, the group started to move north. Hunter had a feeling that the Dolomite queen and the Dolomite soldiers were headed for the next state. Mary and the others just hoped that the people in the next state would be able to get away in time.

    Chapter One:

Mark was sitting on the roof of a building, looking out over the city. He was happy to be alive and happy that he didn’t lose anyone in the ambush. He knew if it weren’t for Hunter, they all would be dead. Greg and Sue walked out and saw Mark standing over near the edge of the roof and wondered what he was doing. Greg asked Sue to stay while he walked over. Sue nodded and Greg headed over to see what was on Mark’s mind.

    A penny for your thoughts

What? Oh, I was just thinking about last night. Mark said.

Yea, I thought we were goners. Greg said back.

They both looked out over what was left of the city and wondered what was going to happen next.

What do we do now? Greg asked.

I don’t know we’re trapped in the city by that damn blockade. I just hope we don’t run into anymore creatures.

Greg started to think of something and then decided that it would work either. Looking back at Sue who was still standing next to the door, he smiled and then waved her over. Inside the building, Mary and the rest of the group were trying to get some sleep, when Mary sat up. Looking around, she saw that she was safe and that they weren’t being attacked. Scott heard her and looked over to see if she was ok.

    Where’s Hunter? She asked.

I don’t know he was here an hour ago. Scott said back.

Mary got up and walked over to the window to see if he was outside somewhere. She knew that it wasn’t going to be easy to see him from where she was, because they were so high up in the building. Once she tried to see if he was down on the street somewhere, she turned and headed for the stairs to the roof.

Mark decided that he had seen enough and headed towards the door, when it opened. Mary walked out and asked him if he had seen Hunter anywhere. Mark shook his head and looked over towards Greg and Sue.

Do you two know where Hunter is? Mary asked.

He said something about going after the queen. Greg told her.

WHAT! Why did he go alone?" She asked, with a panic tone in her voice.

I think he feels like he let us down somehow. Sue said.

Mary couldn’t believe that he would do something like this. She headed back inside and told Mark and Scott. Greg and Sue followed her inside and wondered what Mary was going to do.

Why would he feel that he let us down? Scott asked.

I’m not sure, but we have to go after him. Mary said back, reaching for her gun.

Mark grabbed her hands and shook his head. Mary pulled her hands from him and sat down. She couldn’t help but to think that something bad was going to happen to him. Sue sat down next to her and put her arm around her shoulder.

    He’ll be fine.

What? Are you high? Mary asked.

Mary, he’s a fighter. There is nothing we could do to make him stay here. Sue said.

Mary didn’t want to hear any of that, standing up she headed back for the stairs. Mark was going to go after her, Sue stopped him and she headed up after Mary.

You know, I think she likes him. Greg said.

Mark and Scott both looked at him and then they too started to think the same thing. Sue made it to the roof and walking out the door, she saw Mary standing over near the edge.

What are we going to do? Mary asked.

What do you mean? Sue answered back.

If we get attacked again, what are we going to do?

Sue thought about it for a moment and realized that Mary was right. Those creatures could attack and they would be helpless. Sue knew that they had ammo but not much.

I just hope he’s alright. Mary said, leaning down to look.

He’ll be fine. I have faith in him.

Mary looked at her with a smirk on her face and then Sue started to laugh.

Faith are you sure that’s not all you have? Mary asked.

Hey, you’re the one that’s undressing him with your eyes.

That’s not true. I do like him but he’s not from here. Mary said.

Sue sat down on the ledge and looked down. Deep down inside, she knew that Mary had the hots for him. She couldn’t blame her, he has a nice body and that was enough. Sue started to think back when she first saw him standing there all in black, with a suit that left nothing for the imagination.

OK, can we talk about something else please, I’m started to get worked up here. Sue said, waving her hand in her own face.

See, I’m not the only one who likes him.

Greg sat down on the bed and looked out the window. He wondered what was happening in the rest of the world.

Hey, do you think that just maybe there is someone else out there like Hunter? Greg asked.

I don’t know, he said that he was the only one. Mark answered back.

Yea, but how does he know that? There could be others just like him somewhere.

Scott sat there thinking about this and started to wonder if it was possible. A smile came over his face while he thought about it and then turned towards Mark.

What are you thinking about? Mark asked.

Just think if there is someone else that is like Hunter here on our planet fighting the creatures just like he is.

You know that’s a pretty big if. Greg said.

Scott looked over at him and wondered why he would say something like that. If there were someone else here to help that would be great. Scott felt like everyone was giving up or something. He knew that if they didn’t get out of the city soon, they all would go crazy.

I know Hunter said that he was the only one left. What if he wasn’t? Scott said.

What are you talking about? Greg asked.

I just think that if there is someone like him here, we should try and find him or her. Scott said.

Mark walked over and looked out the window to see if there was anything going on out there.

Without Hunter, we would even know where to start looking. He said, still looking out the window.

He left us, to go and do who knows what. Greg said.

Scott stood up and headed for the stairs that lead up to the roof. Mark saw him and then turned towards the window. When he walked out onto the roof, he saw Sue and Mary talking and walked over to see if they had any idea of what
