As the doorbell rang, my mum hurried off to the front door and I heard a little boy’s voice.
‘My mum says you have a daughter,’ he stammered. ‘I’d love to play if she wants to.’
‘Sarah!’ my mum yelled. ‘Come here, Tina’s son wants to meet you.’
Tina was Mum’s new friend who lived a few doors down.
We’d only moved to the area two weeks before. Feeling shy, I walked to the door and hid behind Mum.
