About this ebook

When Moon goes missing, the whole town is in an uproar, pointing fingers at each other. Who is to blame? Is it the stranded soldier she gave a ride to days before her disappearance? Was she in the wrong place at the wrong time, snatched by a stranger? Or was it one of her neighbors?

    Chasing Moon

    Chapter One

    Missing Moon

Gabriel sat at the edge of the motel bed, running his fingers through his hair.  His mind was racing a-mile-a-minute.  He knew he should not have came here.  He should have never come looking for her, but he could not help himself.

He stood up, looking around this rundown motel room.  A broken television set sat upon the only chair in the room.  The curtains had holes in them, the bedding was no better.  The lamp upon the beside table, if you could call it that, was more of a decoration in this room then it was anything else.  He caught a glimpse of himself in the cracked mirror on the wall, and boy did he look like a mess!

He was heading to the bathroom when a loud knock on the room door interrupted him.  Gabriel turned on his heal, heading toward the door.  He paused, no one knew he was here.  There was no one alive who would even care that he was here.

The pounding came, louder and angrier this time.  Coming! Gabriel shouted to the impatient person on the other side.  Gabriel hesitated before opening the door.  His hand on the handle, ready to turn it in a moments notice.  Who is there?  Gabriel called, trying to raise it high enough to be heard through the door.

Gabriel, open up, it's Officer Matthews.  Came the response from the other side.  Gabriel obeyed.  He slid the door lock and turned the handle, it was forced open, throwing him backwards.  A man rushed in, snatching Gabriel by the ruff of his shirt, yelling immediately.  Gabriel was unable to run, unable to move, he was pinned between the wall and the man.

The sudden stream of sun light now flooding the motel room blinded him.  Where is she?  The man shouted.  Gabriel blinked a few times, adjusting his eyes to the light.  It was Frank, Moon's father and he looked furious.  His eyes burned through Gabriel's skin.  Don't play dumb with me Gabriel!  Where is she?  Frank spat as he shouted into his face.

Gabriel was lost.  What was he talking about?  Who was he talking about?  I think you need to leave, now.  Gabriel growled.  He tried to remain calm, still there was an underlining threat that could be heard within his words.

Not without my daughter!  Frank hissed.  Swallowing hard before continuing.  Not without my Moon.  His face only inches away from Gabriel's, the weight of his body pinning Gabriel against the wall.

Take it easy, Frank.  Officer Matthews warned.  Placing his hand on his hip, he continued to reason with Frank.  Don't make me have to use this on you.  Besides, we need him for questioning, remember?  He can't very well answer any if he's dead, now can he?.

Frank did not flinch.  He made no such movement that would indicate his releasing of his prey.  His eyes continued to bore a hole through Gabriel's skull as he contemplated Officer Matthews words.  Finally, Frank opened his fist, letting go of Gabriel's shirt.  I suppose you are right..

Frank backed up a few paces, letting out the breath that he had been holding, never taking his eyes off of Gabriel.  Gabriel squared his shoulders as Officer Matthews closed the door behind him.  Officer Matthews crossed
