Late at night,
When the moon is at its height
Don’t close your eyes
Don’t go to sleep
What shall come
Not man,
Not beast
But Devil’s son

Howlsville
Chapter 1
Sarah sat, erect in her bedroom desk chair, ears straining to hear the distant howl. A frightening howl she had heard for months now. A cry not that of a wolf, nor of any animal that Sarah had recognized. This continual, randomness of howling at night had spiked her curiosity as to what hideous creature made such a noise. Her mind wandered and the best picture to fit such a sound was that of a creature formed in the bowls of myth and it terrified her. Shrugging off the image that now plagued her mind, she pushed back from the desk and slid out of the desk chair.
Sarah reached for her sweater and was pulling it on when another howl came, this time closer then before. She froze, her beating heart quickened. The howl came again, sounding as though it was only few feet away from her first floor window. In the next few moments, all Sarah could hear was her own pounding heartbeat, pulsating, thudding against the drum of her ear. She had noted there was something different about this howl from the other howls that she had heard on occasion, causing an unsettling feeling to wash over her.
There she stood by her window, leaned against the frame for quite sometime, peering out into the vast darkness, watching, waiting for the creature. No howl came again. No creature to be seen. Nothing. Nothing had came from the empty, black void that now seemed to peer back at her. Some time had passed and eventually, Sarah settled into bed, it was clear that the creature had moved on.
Though she slept that night, it was an uneasy sleep. Her slumber was disturbed by visions terrible sites to be held. Sarah dreamed of creatures so hideous that it had made her shiver to her core.
Sarah Price had moved to this tiny, off the map town a year ago with her mother. Leaving all her friends and her normal life behind was hard enough, but leaving the very home that her fondest memories of her father were created, somehow seemed far worse a heart stab then loosing her social life. A few weeks after her father passed in a horrific car accident, the decision to pack and move had been made. Her father had left nothing behind for them, except this old house, his childhood home. No money, no pension, nothing, except an old, abandoned home in a strange town. Sarah tried to protest against the move, even offering to get a job to ease the burden of finances, but alas, her efforts yielded nothing. The move was happening, no matter what Sarah had wanted, or needed. She desperately wanted to stay with her friends. Sarah needed to stay where she was, something inside her screamed out against the move, something far greater then her personal teenage woes. She could feel it in her bones, the move was not a good idea.
This was not like the big city she had grown to know and love, no this was a small time town. The kind of small town where everyone knew each other, and nothing was kept secret for long. Refuse to hold open a door for someone on Monday, come Tuesday, the whole of the town is giving you the stank eye, and rushing ahead of you just so they can be the reason that the door slams in your face, that kind of small town.
Sarah had inquired once before about the howls. Anyone that she dared to ask all shrugged it off by simply telling her that the sounds were that wolves. Dangerous wolves. Sarah had learned that these so called ‘dangerous wolves’ were the very reason why the town kept and enforced a very strict eight o'clock curfew for the adolescence.
Morning came, and not a moment to soon for Sarah. The creature had come to close to her home this time, way to close. Sarah readied her breakfast, Sarah vowed to put an end to the creature or creatures that lurked into the night. She devised a plan to trap the creature over bacon and eggs. Scribbling notes in her notebook. writing a list of things that she would need in between her bites of toast. She had no ideal how large the
