THE TALE OF ANNA LA MOND
Can’t I stay up a bit longer?
the girl pleaded. The stars are so large tonight and father said this is the only time you can look through the telescope and see another planet.
No my dear, I ‘m afraid we have a very long day tomorrow,
her mother replied. The journey to La Reis is almost a half day and we plan on getting there before night fall we have to leave very early. So you need your rest.
Yes mother,
the young girl said reluctantly as she walked away from her window.
Goodnight Anna,
her mother said.
Goodnight Mother,
she replied. If father ever comes out of his observation room tell him…
she started saying.
Tell him what?
A booming voice asked from the door.
Father I thought you were still in your observation room,
she said as she leapt into his arms.
I was but I figured your mother would put you to bed early, so I came to say goodnight,
he told her.
He cradled her in his arms as if holding a very young child.
Okay now,
her mother interrupted. It’s time for bed and that means you too husband. Knowing you, you might spend the whole night looking at the stars.
You know me too well,
he said to her as he laid a gentle kiss on her cheek.
Okay Anna you heard what mother said time to sleep.
Okay father,
she replied.
Anna’s father laid her back in bed. She crawled up under her silk covers. From under them she looked at both her parents who were by the door.
Goodnight mother, father,
she said to them.
Goodnight Anna,
they both said. Sleep well love.
As they closed the door Anna was already drifting off to sleep in the cool night air that blew through her open window.

Are you sure their asleep?
A man asked.
Yes I’m sure. The maid that I meet from the kitchen couldn’t shut up about them and the riches they have,
The other man replied.
So everything is ready?
He asked.
Yes Collin everything is ready.
Good so when the guards go to the far side of the mansion we make our move.
Which window is hers?
the man asked.
That one there,
Collin pointed to the window on the left corner of the mansion. So does Marcus know where to meet us?
Yes he has the carriage hidden at the end of the path behind the large Oak tree,
he explained.
Good he better be there. Knowing him he’ll go so soft and leave us stranded.
No, Marcus won’t do that his family needs the money as badly as we do.
Yeah well make sure it doesn’t happen or else,
Collin said threateningly. Collin heard foot steps heading in their direction. Shh hide the guards are coming around. Remember when they start walking towards the far side, we make our move.
The men waited while the guards passed by the bushes they hide behind. They knew if they were discovered they would be sent to prison or worse yet behead.
Okay their gone,
