About this ebook

August McGrath thought he had it all, he was indeed the oldest, and the largest out of the pack of boys his mother had birthed, he owned a piece of mountain land, he had his own business working with wood, he even made his own house, though what he didn't count for was her…

Camilla Harriet thought she had to be the perfect daughter her mother wanted, until she was told she was to marry a rich boy; whom just so happened to work with her father.

A camping trip that Camilla dreaded, a camping trip August would normally stay away from. Until his younger brother talked him into meeting the campers.

Can August win Camilla's heart or will this only be a spring fling?

    Chapter one –Camilla

Cami, are you in there? my mother called from the other side of my bedroom door.

Damnit, why couldn’t I have moved out on my birthday five years ago, oh yeah, I remember, my mother had told me to stay there for more than one reason.

Reason 1 was so I could save up for an apartment...yeah right; my mother wouldn’t let me out of her sight even at dinner.

Reason 2 because my father was sick and he could die at any minute...he had had the flu.

Reason 3 because a lady always stays with her family until a suitor comes asking for her hand.

I’m just packing mamma, I called back as I gathered a set of clothes and a few books.

Rodger is here, what a handsome man for my daughter. My mother cooed as she opened my bedroom door.

Mother, I am not marrying Rodger. I growled out as I zipped my bag.

Oh nonsense my dear, Rodger isn’t courting just anyone. Mother spoke as she tried reaching for my hair.

You can’t force love mother. My eyes narrowed as I stepped back.

Camilla Marie Harriet, you will honor my wishes and be a good girl and marry Rodger.

Grabbing my bag, I headed toward my door making my way down to the family truck.

I looked up to see my father loading the last of our camping gear in the truck.

What’s the matter Cami? my father asks as I stop to load my bag into the truck.

She’s at it again, she has it in her mind that I’m going to fall in love with Rodger and live happily ever after. I don’t want Rodger, daddy. I want someone who will protect me physically, who knows what hard work is. Who doesn’t judge me for my body but loves me for it.

"Cami, I want what is best for you, so if Rodger and your Harpy of a mother try to but in, I will
