Cami, are you in there? my mother called from the other side of my bedroom door.

Damnit, why couldn’t I have moved out on my birthday five years ago, oh yeah, I remember, my mother had told me to stay there for more than one reason.

Reason 1 was so I could save up for an apartment...yeah right; my mother wouldn’t let me out of her sight even at dinner.

Reason 2 because my father was sick and he could die at any minute...he had had the flu.

I’m just packing mamma, I called back as I gathered a set of clothes and a few books.

Rodger is here, what a handsome man for my daughter. My mother cooed as she opened my bedroom door.

Mother, I am not marrying Rodger. I growled out as I zipped my bag.

Oh nonsense my dear, Rodger isn’t courting just anyone. Mother spoke as she tried reaching for my hair.

You can’t force love mother. My eyes narrowed as I stepped back.

Grabbing my bag, I headed toward my door making my way down to the family truck.

I looked up to see my father loading the last of our camping gear in the truck.
