The Magical Forest and Lighting the Flying Horse - L.B. McLean
Chapter I
The Flying Horse
Once upon a time, in the deep forest of the Summerset Hills, there lived a Flying Horse named Lighting, only a few people in the nearby village had ever seen him. The villagers said that many years Lighting protected the people in the village from the fire dragon who attacked the village.
It was a stormy day when Lighting faced the dragon Lighting tricked the dragon,
by flying towards the mountains where a statue with a large sword pointing to the sky, and the lighting strike the sword and bounce off hitting the dragon in his neck, and took off his head and it fell to the ground. The people in the Yallas village praised and chaired Lighting, and he became a legend for the people in the village.
The statue on the mountain is Sean’s great grand father John McLeod, who lived in the Yallas village, "he was a great sword-man, and defeated the evil wizard that was terrorizing the villagers.
Sean grew up in the Yallas village,
his friend April lives next door, they use to clime a large apple tree beside the neighbor, and sit on a large branch and pick the apple’s and filled their pockets. Sean and April took turns opening the tree branches, and peeping at the neighbor,
by throwing the apples skins over their home, to annoy the neighbor," as they ate the apples, giggling, laughing.
"Sean’s uncle James used to catch them and get mad, or as mad as someone would get, and can be nice and gentle as an uncle could ever get.
He would point his finger and wave, for us to get down from the tree, and he laughs while he does it,
he always, shouting at me, get down now.
Yes, uncle,
Sean would mumble, looking down at his feet.
But he never told on me," or mother would certainly flog me.
Upstairs was my bedroom, next to Uncle James room, and his study, which always smelled of tobacco. Uncle James and his friends sitting on reclined brown leather chairs, racking chairs, and waiting for my mother to serve dinner.
They stuffed their pipes with tobacco, and puff their cigars, and discussed their favorite topics, business, politics, football and magic.
Sometimes I ask my uncle, if I could sit with them, but Uncle James would stand at the doorway. Leave now,
he said. "This is grown—ups’ time.
Why don’t you go read one of your books? He’d close the door,
I always wonder why it grown-ups’ time with him.
I’d sit by the door, with my hands on my cheek. Sometimes I sat there an hour, listening to their laughter, and chatter.
The living room downstairs was large and had a custom built three piece mahogany set.
We had framed family pictures, an old photo of my great grandfather, who defeated the evil wizard.
There was a picture of my parents weeding, my father in his dashing blue suit and my mother in full white dress.
A picture of my father and my uncle, standing in the living room," I was a baby in the photograph and my father holding me in his arms.
The dining room, at the center of which had a mahogany table that could easily sit twelve family members, on the other end of the dining room was the family room, "that watched T-V and play music.
A sliding glass door open into a terrace that overlooked a lake, with one and half acre of land in the back yard, with lots of vegetables gardens, that grows, peppers, tomatoes, onions, carrots and rows of lettuce.
My mother would pick the vegetables from the gardens, and share it with the neighbors.
One day Sean, asked his mother if he and April could go for a walk in the nearby forest, his mother said
OK", but be careful of the wild animals in the forest.
April dressed in blue jeans, red T-shirt and track shoes, and Sean dressed in blue jeans, white T-shirt and track shoes.
On reaching the forest they saw a bear standing by the tree and he looked around, and saw Sean and April, "the bear
