BAD TIMING

Lucy is a young South African woman studying history at a well-known university in the UK. On weekends she works as a tour guide.

One day a bus full of noisy American tourists arrives at the tour site in Runnymede, England. They gather around Lucy who starts to explain the history of the location.

“This is the spot where the barons forced King John to sign the Magna Carta,” she says.

A man pushes to the front of the crowd and asks, “When did that happen?”

“1215,” Lucy answers.

The man looks at his watch and says, “We missed it by a half hour!”
