    Chapter One: Do it Thoroughly

    Mullah Nasruddin was appointed the judge of the town he lived in. He was happy with his new post, and he decided to give justice to the people.

    One morning, a man came running into his room and said, Sir, I have been robbed. Some people took away my belongings at the border of this town. I am sure that the criminals are from this town. Please give me justice.

    It transpired that the robbers had taken everything, including his shoes, his trousers, his shirt, his coat, his necklace, his socks, and all his money, that belonged to that man.

    The man said to Mullah Nasruddin, They have left only my underwear.

    Mullah Nasruddin began very thoughtfully, I can see that you are still wearing your underwear, so it is sure that the robbers are not from this town.

    But I am sure that they are from this town, said the man.

    No, they are not from this town, so I can’t investigate this case, said Mullah Nasruddin.

    Sir, how can you be so sure? protested the man.
