      Seelah stood gazing out the tiny bedroom window of her condo at the dusky skyline across Elliot Bay. She smoothed musk scented oil on her arms and hands. The spaceport loomed over West Seattle, blocking most of the hill from her view. The olive green metallic and glass building partially hidden by a misty veil of cold rain.

      Small lighted ships came and went from the port like bees in a hive. Or what she imagined bees would look like. Being a city dweller her entire life, she’d never actually seen a bee.

      Where did he live? The alien she met at the pleasure theater last week. Near the port or in downtown somewhere? Most of the aliens had bought large chunks of real estate in those two areas, forcing humans farther away from the center of the city. A lot had happened in the twenty years since the Alien Concord arrived on Earth, bringing their technological revolution. At least to those who could afford new technology.

      Which wasn’t her.

      Seelah had mixed feelings about her encounter. She didn’t know where he
