Brent Adams
Brent L. Adams is Dusenberry Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University. From 1976-80 he was Senior Research Engineer for Babcock and Wilcox Company. He has been a professor of materials science at the University of Florida and Carnegie Mellon University, and a professor of mechanical engineering at Yale University and Brigham Young University. He was recipient of a National Science Foundation Presidential Young Investigator Award (1985-1990). Professor Adams directed the team of researchers that developed the orientation imaging microscope, which is now used by over 400 laboratories some 30 countries of the world to advance the development of materials. He is the author of 170 papers and five edited proceedings.

Introduction
Many people have a problem with the title Boss.
Why? Well it could be because they associate it with someone that is a dictator, mean, and hard to work for. Maybe it’s the movies showing the guard of chain gangs as the mean Boss. Or the Chicago political Boss’s. But the real definitions of Boss include:
*A person in charge of a worker or organization
*One who makes decisions or exercises authority
*Incredibly awesome; miraculous; great
*An employer or a supervisor
So what’s wrong with being a Boss? Nothing. In fact, being a Boss should be a good thing. It’s an honor and a great responsibility.
Being a great Boss is critical to the success of your business. It is crucial to making things work right. Being a great Boss means you get the most out of your staff, provide the best service, and make sure your customers have their expectations met.
Let’s look at the importance of your staff. If you really want to get the most out of your employees and have fun doing it, than the following plan is for you. There are a lot of steps, but no one said being a great Boss would be easy. You have to work for it. The steps are easy, sensible, and withstand the test of time, but they do take work. I have seen this plan work with manufacturers, merchants, service oriented businesses, and governmental organizations. The people who implement these steps reap the benefits of having a stronger motivated work force, a fun place
