Cream and Punishment is book two in Susannah Nix’s King Family series. Set in the small town of Crowder, Texas, Cream and Punishment is the story of Tanner and Lucy, both introduced in the first book. A Texas native, Nix writes authentically about living in the Lone Star State. Her wit and banter is well-suited for romantic comedy. In Cream and Punishment, Tanner and Lucy each battle struggles with difficult family members, each in different ways, and these struggles litter their path to a HEA. The characters are highly relatable and the storyline was engaging. Nix writes about the couples struggles in a way that isn’t angsty. All in all, this book was a delight!

Vocal performances by Chris Brinkley and Amanda Stribling were excellent, Brinkley’s southern accent is the best, and his variety of voices for all characters makes romances swoony!

A Southern Charmer with all the manners. This is a very PG-13 book with just a couple love scenes. Hardly any foul language and loads of southern manners. It was refreshing and realistic with a HEA and a cliff hanger for the next installment. (This story line ends HEA) All the books in this series roll fluently from one to the next.

Solid 4.5 stars! Great writing, wonderful story and characters. Excellent choice in narrators with great performances. I really enjoy this series!
