About this audiobook
Quinn Callahan is having a doozy of a midlife crisis.
She's stuck in a dead end job, going nowhere, but she's been fine with it. She's 45 and divorced. Her husband left her for her best friend—so cliche! But it was all good—until Quinn, a practicing witch, broke a major rule, and found her boring existence turned upside down. Suddenly, she finds herself thousands miles away from the bustling metropolis of Seattle and plunked down in the sleepy little hamlet of Ballydehag, Ireland, and proprietress of a charming little bookshop. Surely, there's no chance for a middle aged witch to get into any trouble here....right? Uh......

Reviews for The Vampire Book Club

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It was a little rocky in the beginning but it was a good story!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Very enjoyable. The story was interesting, the main character engaging and relatable.
The narration was excellent. - Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Very disappointing. Much of the writing felt like lazy copy/paste from Warren's earlier Knitting Club series. Even the heroine, despite being older and having a much different background from the Knitter's Club heroine, had the same irritating internal leaps to conclusions and suspicions built on the most ridiculously flimsy premises. Also, the constant convenient lapses into stupidity as a plot device just make the the heroine out to be an idiot when it makes no sense, but suddenly a genius when it's useful.
Now, the murder. I'm sorry to say, but...yawn. The victim is such a morally bankrupt bastard that I couldn't drum up any actual desire for the crime to be solved, let alone root for the protagonist. And as if that weren't bad enough, the killer ends up being the most sympathetic personal that the victim harmed. Yeah, that feels great.
The heroine doesn't even "solve" the murder. She humiliates a bunch of people, unnecessarily, bouncing from suspect to suspect as each doesn't pan out, until finally the killer just---jfc---confesses everything when the evidence was barely even circumstantial. How convenient. And lazy.
I do wish I could find a cozy mystery series that wasn't insulting to readers' intelligence. It's like they write these things on the premise that the readers are imbeciles.
