Claudia Winters is on the run from her abusive husband, Marcus, a banker with links to the underground world of drug dealers and gangsters. She’s endured so much that she decides to change her identity, along with that of her teenage daughter, Jasmine, and her mother, Marcy. After they relocate, Claudia gradually begins to relax and stops looking over her shoulder. She feels safe in the knowledge that Marcus has been sent to prison, but remains aware of the fact that he will eventually find her and wreak his revenge. She buys a house, makes new friends and re-establishes her previously successful business.
The narrative is interspersed with letters from a 19-year-old prison inmate, Archie. When hisis a compelling tale of restorative justice, filled with every facet of humanity: hatred, violence and abuse, which ultimately moves on to compassion, forgiveness and love.
