About this audiobook

It started with a kiss...

Mari Beadie needed a boyfriend, and former NHL hockey star Chase Miller happened to be in the right place at the right time. The kiss that followed wasn't necessary, strictly speaking, but it sure was hot.

Hot enough that when the tables are turned, Chase knows just the pretty bartender to ask to be his pretend girlfriend. Only this time, it's not a one-time deal.

    4 Stars for me!

My rating range throughout the story... 3.5 - 4.5 Stars It would have been 4.5 Stars but the resolution to the article was essentially glossed over.

Scenes with heat.. Lots of heat from the 60% mark through the end of the story

The back story... He is recovering from a career ending injury and she is an aspiring singer working at a bar. He is frustrated with his turn of events but steps on when the h is dealing with her jerk of an ex. He realizes that they have something but she is unsure and lacks confidence.

The Romance... Slow burn with the H cultivating the relationship. The h has to go through self reflection in order to believe that he could be a forever guy.

The drama explosion... Medium - A tabloid smears the H and to a lesser extent, the h. The H has to deal with the fallout and that it does impact both of them.

Chase and Mari did a great fake romance, which was funny, because neither really wanted it to be fake from the beginning. But even with all that zingy attraction, they became friends first, and then let things progress from there. Sweet and sexy, they let things grow organically and talked about the miscommunication and expectations. Good thing, because when things got rough, they were solid. Loved them both so much!
