About this audiobook

Whether it’s repairing a home or taking care of clients’ other needs, Twin Cities handyman Sam Haney is in demand from his mostly female clientele. Despite Sam’s lothario reputation, love isn’t part of his portfolio. He’s built a lot of walls in his time, but the one that’s surrounded his heart ever since the death of his parents is his most solid yet.

Haley Cooper has had enough heartache for a lifetime. Her high school sweetheart up and moved to Indonesia—alone—just two weeks before their wedding. Her mother thinks it’s time for Haley to move on and contracts Sam to work on Haley’s wreck of a house—and anything else, if he’s got the notion.

Sparks fly and passion ignites. But Haley isn’t into Sam’s love-’em-and-leave-’em act. She wants something more. Fixing a house is one thing, but for this handyman, building a relationship will need a whole different set of skills.

I liked this book and had a lot of fun with it. I really didn't know a whole lot about the book but when I saw that it was offered through Prime Reading at Amazon, I decided to give it a try. It was a really quick listen for me and I was able to get through the whole book in just a couple of days. It wasn't perfect but it had some really great moments that made the overall experience quite enjoyable. One thing that I had to get past with this book was the initial set up. Sam becomes well known as the handyman offering a few more personal services. I was quite amused by how things started until Haley's mother got involved. Haley's mother sends Sam to work on Haley's house and requests his personal touch. What mother does that? Every mother I know would do everything in their power to prevent such a thing from happening. It just felt odd to me but I went with it and just had fun watch Sam and Haley.I really liked Sam and Haley together. They both had some pretty big issues to work through and I thought that they were really good for each other. I love how Haley confides in Sam and takes his advice. Sam really had a hard time opening up to other but he was very drawn to Haley. I wish that Sam could have worked through some of his issues a little quicker and saved both of them some heartache but everything worked out in the end. I think that this is the second time that I have listened to Teri Clark Linden and I thought she did a good job with the book. Her voice was very pleasant to listen to for hours at a time and she was able to bring a lot of emotion to the story. I thought that the character voices that she used were all very well done. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more of her work in the future.I would recommend this book to others. It was a fun romance that had the happily ever after that I wanted to see. This was the first book by Barbara Longley that I have had the chance to read but I look forward to more in the future.

This was a cute romance between a relationship phobic handyman and a paralegal who needs to find her groove. It was a pretty funny way they met and the exchange made me laugh a little. I know all about mothers who like to interfere with their children's lives. I thought the build up of tension between them was right on point. Loving the Haney family. Will definitely be reading this series and even checking out the author's other books.

Sam and Haley are perfect for each other. Perfect in that neither of them knows what the heck they want and they both turned so totally neurotic halfway through the book. The concept is cute: Haley's mother tries to set her up with Sam, the handiest handyman in town, after her fiance leaves her just weeks before their wedding. Haley finds out about the setup and decides to turn things around in an effort to get her mother to back off. In the process, Haley and Sam fall for each other. But oh my dear gracious. Does he, does she, will she, won't he, and so on. I get hesitance, but the back and forth between wanting to jump each other and being afraid of this "relationship" is just ... well, it gets old.Overall, cute concept, not crazy about the main characters. And sidenote, my mom would do anything for me but I don't think she'd ever set me up with a potential one-night stand.*A free copy of this book was provided by netgalley/the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
