About this audiobook

From Edgar-Award nominee Elle Cosimano, comes Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead—the hilarious and heart-pounding follow-up to Finlay Donovan is Killing It.

"A funny and smart, twisty and surprising series."—Megan Miranda

Finlay Donovan is—once again—struggling to finish her next novel and keep her head above water as a single mother of two. On the bright side, she has her live-in nanny and confidant Vero to rely on, and the only dead body she's dealt with lately is that of her daughter's pet goldfish.

On the not-so-bright side, someone out there wants her ex-husband, Steven, out of the picture. Permanently. Whatever else Steven may be, he's a good father, but saving him will send her down a rabbit hole of soccer moms disguised as hit-women, and a little bit more involvement with the Russian mob than she'd like.

Meanwhile, Vero's keeping secrets, and Detective Nick Anthony seems determined to get back into her life. He may be a hot cop, but Finlay's first priority is preventing her family from sleeping with the fishes... and if that means bending a few laws then so be it.

With her next book's deadline looming and an ex-husband to keep alive, Finlay is quickly coming to the end of her rope. She can only hope there isn't a noose at the end of it...

This is a great book but there is a chunk of audio missing. The end of chapter 44 to and including the start of chapter 46 is missing. I ended up getting the ebook from another gap so I could find out what happened.

I really enjoyed the first book but this one was just all over the place with theories and suspects. I hope the series hasn’t jumped the shark already so I’m going to go ahead and the give the next book a try. Fingers crossed.

Another really fun Finlay Donovan romp! I saw a few mixed reviews on this one, saying it either lived up to the first one or fell flat, but in my opinion, this one was just as fun and suspenseful as the first novel in the series!

I love the character progression, suspense, relatable humor about parenting, and the pace of these novels so far.

The second in a two book series and I have not read the first. I did have the audiobook, and don't repeat synopses or give spoilers.

The narrator had me from the first page, and as the story went on I found myself tickled when Nick was speaking. Angela Dawe gave the book life with all her character voices.

I appreciate that Elle Cosimano wrote a story using her talents and skills and didn't rely or cheapen her gift using profanity.

The story itself was pretty good. If it were a movie, it wouldn't be a theatre blockbuster; however it definitely would be a Monday morning water cooler happy chat movie. This is funny, sad, creepy, and a little dark inference. There is a divorced couple, both date, two young kids, parents, sibling, and a friend or two, and the bad guys. All the characters are relevant and Cosimano introduced and carried them nicely. I didn't care for the ex-husband, and I don't have the life experience to judge his realism.

Also, several times I felt left out of the joke, wondering had I read book one first would I have had a different experience.

I liked the ending. It was complete, not a cliffhanger, but ended with me making a note to watch for book three.
