About this audiobook
I love him.
I loathe him.
It’s like plucking daisy petals in my head, but he’ll never know.
When Miles Cavanaugh, the best safety in the league, was traded to the Chicago Grizzlies football team last year, I could finally breathe. Temptation was miles away.
How naïve to think it would end there because when the opportunity to write for a national magazine based in Chicago lands in my lap months later, I can’t turn it down. Sure, it’s a big city, but the sexual energy feels like a beacon between us the minute my plane lands.
To make matters worse, I end up having to take over the job of reporting exclusively on the Chicago Grizzlies. Which means traveling with the team, interviewing players, and pretty much having an all-access pass to their lives during the season.
Miles and I put up a great front, quickly hating on one another, but we both know it’s a lie. We also know the rules are simple. For me, don’t sleep with the subject of your articles. For him, don’t sleep with the journalist who can make or break your career.
I thought straight-laced Miles Cavanaugh followed all the rules… oh how wrong I was.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Pretty good story as always from Piper Rayne. The one thing that got me was the female narrator. If you've listened to this author's stories before, you've heard her. She does a great job. I felt like she was almost yelling in this one, though. I've never noticed it any other time. Now I feel like I have to listen again to the others to see if i just didn't pay any mind. I felt myself cringing at times, wanting to tell her to tone it down lol.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoy this writer. I like the narrators. The story is okay. Not a fan of the duet-style narration though.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Such a fun book! Watching Miles and Bryce bicker over the books the Kingsmen series, I couldn't wait for their story. Perfect couple for the first full-length book in the Grizzlies series. I was engaged from the very beginning, and nothing was overly angsty.
Miles is truly one of the good guys who excelmpro football, and Bryce is a hard-working, talented sports journalist. Both were very relatable. Narration was exemplary.
Oh…and don't miss the bonus scene download on piperrayne.com. It's fabulous! So few authors provide bonus audio, and I always enjoy PR’s audio bonuses! ❤️ - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Expectations obliterated!
I’ve been waiting for Miles to get his HEA with Bryce & this series opener for the a Chicago Grizzlies did NOT disappoint.
I knew from the second we met Miles & Bryce that their disdain for each other had sooooo much more to be discovered. Their underlying animosity was fueled by a tension that was so palpable, they didn’t stand a chance of staying away from each other.
Miles Cavanaugh is the guy that all of them can rely on. He’s the protective brother, the loyal teammate, & the reliable friend. He’s just, overall, a good man. He’s the all-American boy next door. He’s also an easy target for the media if he messes up, because he’s a bit of a people pleaser sometimes too.
Bryce Burns is the girl who is committed to giving the real story. And she’s not afraid to step on some toes to get it. She’s the girl who’s happy & good at her job, but she’s got dreams of bigger and better things.
When Bryce gets the chance to write for Sportsverse Magazine, she jumps on this dream job opportunity. Only problem, their headquarters happens to be based in Chicago, where her arch nemesis from the San Francisco Kingsmen, Miles, just got traded. But she’s not following him! Besides, she’ll be the covering the minor league hockey team in Chicago, she won’t even have to see Miles.
Miles & Bryce tend to find themselves in the same friend circle often. As they’re constantly thrown together in social situations, they finally succumb to their attraction. But due to unforeseen circumstances, their relationship now how a bit of a forbidden factor at play. There’s a bit of a twist that threw me for a loop, but kept me wanting so much more.
This enemies to lovers, one night stand, sneaking around, forbidden love had me swooning, laughing, and gasping. The banter between Bryce & Miles was hilarious & so very fueled with bangxiety. And when they came together…WOW! They weren’t just a spark, they were an explosion of epic proportions.
I absolutely devoured this book in mere hours. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I was hooked from the very start & once the banter started, you couldn’t pull me away! And the setup for the rest of the series has me on the edge of my seat.
Audiobook Review:
I’m not sure there was a more perfect Miles Cavanaugh than Tim Paige. Listening to him & Stefanie Kay in duet narration was the icing on the cake for this intro into the Chicago Grizzlies. - Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Why is Stephaie Kay screaming at us while narrating this book? She ruined it. I couldn't stay focused on story because she kept screaming!! I love Tim Paige as a narrator so I was really conflicted!
I love Piper Raynes's stories. I have been anticipating Miles and Bryce's story since they first started bickering in the Kingsmen series!! Stephanie kind of blew it here.
