About this audiobook

A diabolically twisty, psychologically unsettling novel about a woman with no recollection of her past from the authors of the Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick The Last Mrs. Parrish and The Wife Stalker.

""Jaw-dropping twists with an unsettling edge that you’ll need a few days at the beach to recover."" —Reese's Book Club

Addison’s about to get married, but she’s not looking forward to the big day. It’s not her fiancé; he’s a wonderful man. It’s because Addison doesn't know who she really is. A few years ago, a kind driver found her bleeding next to a New Jersey highway and rescued her. While her physical wounds healed, Addison’s memory never returned. She doesn’t know her real name. Or how she ended up injured on the side of a road. Or why she can’t shake the notion that she may have done something very, very bad . . .

In a posh home in the Boston suburbs, Julian tries to figure out what happened to his loving, caring wife, Cassandra, who disappeared without a trace two years ago. She would never have left him and their seven-year-old daughter Valentina of her own free will—or would she?

As these two lives intersect, The Stranger in the Mirror hooks readers with riveting drama, told with Liv Constantine’s hallmark blend of glamour, tense psychological thrills, and jaw-dropping twists.

What a convoluted mess of a book, so many holes and unexplained irrational behaviors by the characters + somehow most of them have never questioned anything that happened but HOW COULD YOU not question that? The plot twists were s t u p i d and the ending just .... ugh. :D

Wow first 5 star book I've read in awhile. I've enjoyed all this authors books.

Kept me engaged until the last quarter of the novel. I would rate the first half five stars, the middle goes down to four stars and the ending plummets to two stars. It was creative and interesting but feels like the characters were not well thought through which really hurt the ending. I would recommend it if you love psychological thriller and are ok with endings that somewhat betray the book.

In general, I enjoyed reading/listening to this book “The Stranger in the Mirror”, not as much as “The Last Mrs Parrish”. There were many elements/characters of the book that were pleasant. However, once it was revealed Addison had amnesia, the author had a blank canvas to interject the progressively morose experiences of her main character (Addison). Truthfully, much of the hyperbole was exhausting. I’m sixty, and have only vomited twice to date; “Voices?!” Really?; I wouldn’t take medication that made me drowsy not to mention sleepy and lose consciousness. Yet, Addison never makes the correlation she becomes “stupefied” after every encounter with Julian. It was times like the fore mentioned, I was insulted. I prefer more complex characters. Julian, Addison & even Valentina’s characters were frequently annoying. Finally, it’s just creepy to hear a man trying to imitate the voice of a female child!

The voice acting was too distracting. Couldn’t proceed.
Annoying, whiny voice at the start and then a portrayal of a child’s voice that was…ugh.

Some details are confusing at first but it all made sense it the end. Julian’s love for his daughter made him crazy but I like that part about him. Idk. Maybe I’m crazy too HAHAHA

I didn't care much for the plot, but the novel's language and narration were quite good. The plot reminded me of a Californian soap opera and I didn't find it particularly clever.

Wow, just when you think you might have it figured out you will be wrong. So many twists and turns. Quite a bit of similarity between this book and Dean Koontz's "False Memory", funny the author even mentions Koontz in the story. There is also a reference to Rebecca which I thought was a clue but I was wrong. I always enjoy Liv's books and this one was really good.

It was good. Wasn't great. Not sure that I would read any other books by the author based off of this book.

It was solidly OK. That’s the best I can say. The beginning was interesting enough to keep me going. Half way through I thought it was going to get really good, but was severely disappointed.
The characters aren’t very deep and the plot is laughable. Completely unbelievable. Twists and turns, yes. However to a ridiculous level. Eye rolling was a constant during the final chapters.
If I didn’t struggle with needing closure, I would have stopped 3/4 of the way through. I hated that I felt the need to continue. It was AWFUL!!!! Massive waste of time.
Everything had potential on its own. The culmination of all the stories is too far fetched. I wanted to like it. I just couldn’t buy into the storyline. Super disappointed.

Intriguing at first but a little too fantastical after the twist was revealed. Hard to believe the lack of agency of some of the characters to realize more fully what was going on. Highly entertaining though!

Oh brother. The plot of this book is laughably bad. Almost none of it is believable and none of the characters act like real people. Don’t want to give spoilers, but the second half of this book goes from “eh, ok, I could maybe see this happening” to “you’ve gotta be kidding me”. I know most people read these psychological domestic thriller type of novels for a fun escape, but I hate when books ask the reader to suspend their disbelief to such a degree. The outlandish plot makes this one a no for me.

It’s very rare for me to be this critical, but this plot was just too ridiculous. Too many far fetched storylines and unrealistic tragedy after tragedy—magic drugs and hypnotherapy to allow bad guys to get away with bad stuff. It dragged when I wanted it to speed up, then skipped over important parts. It was one of the worst listens in a long time.

Addison and Gabriel are very much in love, and are planning to marry. But, Addison is wary, because she can't remember anything prior to two years ago. Julian, along with his daughter, Valentina, are missing Cassandra, who has been missing for two years. When he finds Addison, he tells her they are married, live near Boston, and have a daughter. Addison/Cassandra goes with him, telling a heartbroken Gabriel she remembers happiness with Julian. As part of her memory returns, and strange things begin happening that are unexplainable, Addison/Cassandra begins to wonder why is really true. This was interesting, but a bit too far-fetched for me.

W O W. You think you know what you're getting into here. Standard amnesia plot. Person with no memory makes new ones, person from their past finds them and reveals their former life, conflict ensues. Right?

    Well, yes.

And then... We go back 4 years. And we get tossed into a mind so sick, so twisted, so utterly narcissitic, that it is a massive shock even as the sisters Constantine play it pretty straight in the actual narrative.

It was a solid book before the trip back in time. More character drama than true mystery/ thriller, but it worked for what it was. Several compelling storylines and conflicts through this section really drove the reader to want to know more. And then we travel back in time and begin the race to the finish. :D

    Very much recommended.

Addison is picked up by a truck driver. She is confused, lost and hurt. She has no idea who she is or where she has come from. She ends up in Pennsylvania with a new life. She is about to be married and have her first every photography show. Then…just like that…the husband from her past has found her.Addison is a character which stole my heart. I was captivated by her mysterious past and her flashbacks. When her past catches up to her, that is really where her story twists. Her convoluted past will haunt any reader for days!Talk about a story that just won’t quit! I have loved all of Liv Constatine’s books. But this is by far the best! There were places in this story where I had to actually lay the book down a minute and breathe!Need a good, intense, unstoppable read…THIS IS IT!
