Janet Dailey

Janet Dailey, who passed away in 2013, was born Janet Haradon in 1944 in Storm Lake, Iowa. She attended secretarial school in Omaha, Nebraska, before meeting her husband, Bill. The two worked together in construction and land development until they “retired” to travel throughout the United States, inspiring Dailey to write the Americana series of romances, setting a novel in every state of the Union. In 1974, Dailey was the first American author to write for Harlequin. Her first novel was No Quarter Asked. She went on to write approximately ninety novels, twenty-one of which appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. She won many awards and accolades for her work, appearing widely on radio and television. Today, there are over three hundred million Janet Dailey books in print in nineteen different languages, making her one of the most popular novelists in the world. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book, even though it was tame compared to what I normally read. The main characters danced around the relationship. The only physical contact that they really had was kissing (it was Hot kissing, mind you). I found that even though it didn't have all the sexy love scenes, I really enjoyed the story. The book is well written. The characters are all developed well and they interact with witty banter. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. Looking forward to tracking down other books by this author.

Though Janet Dailey is a well known author this is the first book of hers that I have read. Overall, I did not mind the story, it was a good beach read but there was not a lot of substance. I found the romance between Kelly and Deke to be forced and not very natural. At times the story seemed to drag and I thought it was funny that the author kept talking about a local news host as being a huge celebrity. Overall, it was not a bad book.

I found this book to be a little boring. Nothing really happened. Where was the romance? I really got tired of reading how famous Kelly was....she's a local news anchor not some television or movie actor. I guess this book just feel flat with me, like I said earlier, nothing happened. There was a lot in the book I didn't care about reading. I also didn't feel much of a connection between Deke and Kelly.

I have been reading Janet Dailey's work for many years now and I always enjoy her fascinating stories. Triumph in the Bannon Brothers series is another wonderful examples of Ms. Dailey's work. It has been a while since I have had the chance to read one of her books and I truly enjoyed this one.Ms.Dailey has created intriguing characters with charm and charisma that are involved in a story line that kept me turning pages quickly.Kelly Johns is an on air anchor who misses her reporting days. She gets involved in an investigation with Deke Bannon that leads to a lot of mystery, some drama, and a whole lot of danger for Kelly. I really found Kelly to be a fun heroine, she is smart, charming, and really good at digging into things she maybe should stay out of but doesn't want to. I loved how she was willing to dig right into this case and help Deke solve some of the mysteries.Deke Bannon is a HOT hero, that is really good at being in the right place at the right time to help save Kelly. I loved Deke's way of getting involved in his case and doing just about anything to get the bad guys or gals.I have to say I was surprised who some of the bad guys and gals were in this book but it sure was fun unraveling the mystery as I read. I have not read the other two books in this series but if this book is any indication I sure wouldn't mind reading them. I sure they are just as much fun to read as Triumph was. I didn't feel like I was missing any pertinent information to take away from my enjoyment. If you enjoy a good book with plenty of mystery, some romance, danger, characters that can get themselves in the middle of the investigation for better or worse, I think you will enjoy this one.If you are a Janet Dailey fan like myself, I think you will find this is more of her fantastic writing.I actually grabbed this book off the top of my Mom's to be read pile, I just happened to get to it first :) My Mom is the person who helped nurture my love of reading so we tend to like a lot of the same books and authors.

I just couldn't get into this book. Other than the damsel in distress aspect (although, gladly, the damsel wasn't a 'woe is me' sort), there didn't seem to be much of a plot. Nor was there any chemistry between the two main characters. I know that this is a fairly popular author, but I'm not sure I would pick up another of her books.

Bannon Brothers; Triumph by Janet DaileyIn this family saga the book is about Deke and he works with the agencies.Kelly and her photographers were filming how the city is wasting money at an abandoned building when shots ring out and she's brought to the ground by a man who is now her guardian angel. She would've been shot without him being there. She remembers who he is now and she's trying to advance her anchor career and thinks this might be her time.Lots of action and adventure as they try to help each other out without getting killed. She agrees to tape a conversation for Deke and Hux who are working a banking investigation. In return they have information they share with her about the shooting and she agrees to travel and help them with her expertise. As they try to solve the murders more are committed and they are tied in with the financial and art worlds. Enjoyed the different career paths and their reasoning behind the case they are all determined to solve. Some facts the men know before Kelly does, her life is threatened and some things she figures out before the men. I received this book from The Kennsington Books in exchange for my honest review.

Several errors in book. Story just stopped and then everything got all wrapped up. Weak.
