Second chances for QB1 & Shy Pie
“Sometimes once something is broken, you can’t fix it. Even if you glue all the pieces together, it’ll never be the same as it once was.” This is what Shayna told Lee in False Start, back in college when he broke her heart & broke her. But when this girl sets her mind to it, she can accomplish anything. She’s worked hard to be a top notch athletic trainer & has landed her dream job working with the San Francisco Kingsmen. Her pieces have been mostly put back together out of sheer will. But when the starting QB for the Kingsmen lays eyes on her when the medical team is introduced, it’s evident that one piece of glue didn’t hold well, & a piece is missing.

Lee has never forgiven himself for losing Shayna the way he did in college. And seeing her as part of the Kingsmen staff, even Miles (his best friend, fellow college teammate, & fellow Kingsmen) knows that he’s screwed. Even after 8 years, she still sparks something within Lee.

Shayna is determined to not let this man ruin something else she’s accomplished in her life, & Lee is determined to come clean about their past. Two stubborn & determined souls, but can they find a way to find a happy medium & achieve happiness? Can Lee find a way to finish putting Shayna’s pieces back together?

This first book in this series was the perfect place to start and has so many potential perfect setups to come. The chemistry was off the charts from the s3xual tension down to their private moments. Brady’s story is going to be one that won’t be missed, and Miles’ story….oooooh, his is going to be fuuuun!! And Chase, I can’t wait to see who and how he gets taken down a notch & falls.

Read the novella to really appreciate this story.
Shayna is the one that got away bc Lee did something stupid but his need for success was definitely a blind spot.
Shayna has a real knee jerk, then dig in your heels approach. Lee is driven by the security that comes with being a QB at the top of his game. It’s a good listen..

Piper Rayne does sports like no other author. This is the start of the Kingsman series. There is a prequel, but it isn't necessary although I recommend it.

Fantastic first book in PR’s newest series! Among my favorite authors, I couldn’t wait to read You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows! Classic PR…a good guy, strong woman, and a HEA! Narration was outstanding!
