About this audiobook

When Laura Farnsworth discovers the blood-stained body of a man wearing the distinctive red coat of the British army, her first instinct is to let dead dogs lie. But then the man proves himself to be very much alive by grabbing her ankle and mumbling incoherently.

After twenty-five years in His Majesty's service, Lieutenant Colonel Geoffrey Langston never expected to wake up in heaven, much less being tended an angel. An angel who happens to be an American. As the long-widowed Laura nurses him back to health, the attraction between them heats from a simmer to a boil. He should be working to find his way back to his regiment and from there, to England. Instead, he's sleeping with the enemy--and thereby committing the crime of desertion if not treason. But then, who's going to find out? If only his family didn't refuse to take "missing in action" for an answer.

Editor's Note

Enemies to Lovers...

Now this is a true enemies-to-lovers story: the heroine is an American widow who finds the unconscious hero, a British soldier, during the War of 1812. Barbosa creates a richly-detailed world with plenty of mutual pining, and the eventual Happy Ever After is hard-fought.

Laura is a poor farmer during the war. She finds a British wounded soldier and brings him home to heal him even though she is in the US and they were at war against each other. It is a historical romance, and they fall in love.

This was my favorite book in the series, which takes place in two countries. Good storyline, and good communication between characters. The only problem was the epilogue. It's like Swiss cheese and leaves one full of questions instead of answers.

A delightful story about war and love w/a trial about truth.

Absolutely brilliant, loved every second of it, I couldn't stop listening and when i did I couldn't wait to get back to it. This is one series I will definitely be listening to again, especially this last one. The series got better and better with every book, I highly recommend it. And it's also very nice and steamy.
The narrator was very good, she had a nice sexy voice for Geoffrey the hero.

Looooove this whole trope! It was interesting, sexy, meaningful— and overall a well crafted book. I enjoyed it, and loved some twists the author did on the characters. Overall, a beautiful getaway

Best book in the series. I has a great story line and amazing character development. The sex scenes can be completely skipped without losing any story line but do add to the character development. The explicit language is unnecessary but does not take away from the story. I wish other books in the series had been completed with the same effort and attention to character development and story line. Jackie has the potential to be an amazing author if her other stories are written as well or better than this one.

Wow soooooo good! This is the best book of the series....honestly it doesn't even belong, this turns into a legit novel. Jackie's writing really improved. Everything from character development to the plot was better than the others. Plus the narrator is pretty good!

None of those stupid tropes where the characters are constantly convincing themselves that it can't work for whatever reason just to prolong the inevitable.

It cuts out before the story is over. Total waste of time!
