Isobel Carr

Isobel grew up in the lively historical re-enacting community of Northern California. She’s made and worn the clothes of people from Ancient Rome up to the Roaring 1920s. She’s cooked and eaten their food, and experimented with their entertainments and art forms. She also grew up around numerous writers of historical fiction and science fiction and fantasy (it was impossible not to as a child of the 70s in the Society for Creative Anachronism), so being a writer seemed a perfectly normal career choice. She currently lives in Oakland, California, with a 250lb English Mastiff named Mycroft and a coop full of chickens named after Georgette Heyer characters. The story could have been good but I couldn't finish it. I really tried to persist but I just couldn't get into because the narration was absolutely awful. A really forced "English" accent and without success she can't even pronounce the words correctly. Sorry but couldn't finish it, couldn't bear it any longer. The narrator of the previous book, the second book, in the series was much much better. I don't know why they changed her.
I normally always finish a book but this was unbearable.
Though I'd love to listen to it with a different narrator.

I like the author and she’s a good storyteller but she needs to improve her choice of narrators. This particular narrator doesn’t know how to pronounce words properly. It’s really annoying.
