About this series
The League of Second Sons
A secret society of younger sons, sworn to aid and abet each other, no matter the scandal or cost . . .
After the scandalous demise of her marriage, Lady Olivia Carlow knows the rakes of the ton will think her fair game. So when a letter arrives bearing an indecent offer from the incorrigible Roland Devere, she seizes the opportunity. Turning the tables on the notorious rogue, she blackmails him into playing her betrothed for the season. But no matter how broad his shoulders or chiseled his features, she will never fall prey to his suave charm.
When Roland boasted he'd be the first into Lady Olivia's bed, he couldn't have imagined that behind those brilliant blue eyes lurked a vixen with a scheme of her own. Still, Roland is not about to abandon his original wager. If anything, learning that the lovely Olivia is as bold as she is beautiful makes him more determined to seduce her into never saying "never" again.

Isobel grew up in the lively historical re-enacting community of Northern California. She’s made and worn the clothes of people from Ancient Rome up to the Roaring 1920s. She’s cooked and eaten their food, and experimented with their entertainments and art forms. She also grew up around numerous writers of historical fiction and science fiction and fantasy (it was impossible not to as a child of the 70s in the Society for Creative Anachronism), so being a writer seemed a perfectly normal career choice. She currently lives in Oakland, California, with a 250lb English Mastiff named Mycroft and a coop full of chickens named after Georgette Heyer characters. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful story with lovable hero and heroine as well as supporting characters. Welcome happy ending.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5The story was fun and I like a series so you can see what happened to the characters from the other books! Some of the pronunciations of familiar words were creative I guess so it made for an interesting listen.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Deerhounds, races on the Thames, gentle courtships, league of second sons. Will read what ever you put out.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5I thought it was to to long and it was boring.
- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Wonderful story with the worst narration and pronunciation ever. It was affected as to be cringeworthy.
Also, all voices—male, female , old, young, hero, or villain—were indistinguishable from one another.
Read the book, but avoid this audiobook. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great series. This was the weakest. I didn’t quite feel the chemistry between the H and H after about 2/3 of the way through but these are super fun books. I love that there are so many characters and it makes you feel you are in England in the 18th C. Some might be annoyed that there are a lot of characters to keep track of and it is sometimes confusing but I love that it keeps you thinking and sorting everyone. Isobel — keep them coming!!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Great plot, and loved the two-couple story. And a great villain!

- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Worst narrator ever!!! Mispronounced dozens of words and spoke with a ludicrously fake posh accent. Gave the wrong emphasis to syllables and sentences. Uneducated and struggling, apparently without any help from director/producer. Example: James I i should be read ‘James the First’, not ‘James I (eye).’ I stayed for the entire story, in spite of confusing mashup of plotlines, because I kept hoping the narration would improve. No such luck. PLEASE help this woman find another job; she ruined this book for me.
