About this audiobook
The League of Second Sons
A secret society of younger sons, sworn to aid and abet each other, no matter the scandal or cost . . . Their fathers and brothers may rule the world, but they run it, and when it comes to passion they refuse to accept second best.
No one would ever suspect Lady Boudicea "Beau" Vaughn, a well-bred, young heiress, of secretly harboring unladylike desires. The object of her affection: Gareth Sandison, a notorious rake and her brother's best friend. Beau knows her brother would never approve, yet one glance into Gareth's smoldering eyes stirs a longing deep inside her.
The second son of an Earl, Gareth has always known the lovely Lady Beau is above his station. But when she is kidnapped, Gareth sees a chance to prove his worth and plans a daring rescue. Soon he and Beau are on the run. Yet Beau's abductors are not the only threat-passion pursues the pair at every turn. Long nights fuel forbidden fantasies, and with danger closing in, Gareth and Beau will finally give in to the ultimate temptation...
Editor's Note
Lushly Sensual Historical...
Carr’s lush, incredibly detailed historical romances are as sensual as they are accurate. In “Ripe for Scandal,”when the heroine is kidnapped, her brother’s best friend, a notorious rake, goes after her.
Isobel Carr
Isobel grew up in the lively historical re-enacting community of Northern California. She’s made and worn the clothes of people from Ancient Rome up to the Roaring 1920s. She’s cooked and eaten their food, and experimented with their entertainments and art forms. She also grew up around numerous writers of historical fiction and science fiction and fantasy (it was impossible not to as a child of the 70s in the Society for Creative Anachronism), so being a writer seemed a perfectly normal career choice. She currently lives in Oakland, California, with a 250lb English Mastiff named Mycroft and a coop full of chickens named after Georgette Heyer characters. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved every second of it. This 2nd one was a better story.
AND the narrator was much much better. At the normal speed her voice was a bit too skies but I put up to 1.29 and it was perfect. In fact she was a very good narrator. Pity the next one isn't read by her. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Good story. Complex enough to keep interesting. Happily ever after.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5A HEA doesn’t start at a wedding and that is the case here. Life events and family dynamics have a role. It makes for a more rounded story. So happy with this series and about to start the next book.
