About this series

Messing with time has consequences.

Tallulah Corentine turned back time itself to save her sister Sunny's life, but in doing so she also erased the one perfect night she spent with the man she loves. Now, the bad luck priest Cade Melpomene has a question or two about some dreams he's been having. Explaining that would be hard enough, but Tallulah's got her hands full as Charon, the ferryman of the dead, is staking his claim on Sunny, and a charlatan storm god is stirring up trouble for Seth in Texas.

Can Tallulah undo the damage done by the false god, and also save her relationship with Cade? Can she convince Charon it's not Sunny's time, without losing her sister forever?

One way or the other, it's going to be a hell of a ride.

Being Chosen was supposed to be a gift. That’s what Tallulah Corentine’s parents told her when they handed her over to the Rain Chasers on her seventh birthday. It was an honor to be born with a destiny, to be hand selected by the gods before taking her first breath. She should be overjoyed. Twenty years later, Tallulah is still waiting for the gift. She might have the power of the storm at her fingertips, but she’s spent her whole adult life living under a cloud. A cross-country trip to find the wayward son of Seth, god of the storm, turns into a fight for her life when she dupes Death out of a valuable treasure. With only a wily con man, a dangerously handsome bad-luck priest, and a lot of lightning to help her, can she deliver the package and keep herself out of an early grave? Or will Seth be looking for a new Rain Chaser before it’s all over?

Cheating death twice in a week should at least merit a vacation. Too bad for Tallulah Corentine the rainy season is in full swing and her boss, the storm god Seth, has no intention of letting her rest. When a little girl bearing the mark of Seth is found dead at a Seattle marina, Tallulah worries it might be the work of her childhood flame Prescott, the right hand man to death herself. However things take on a much more sinister aspect when she learns other would-be clerics have gone missing en route to temples across the country. As priests and clerics from all over North America make their way to the annual Convention of the Gods in Las Vegas, Tallulah begins to worry that someone might be planning to use the children and clerics to make one hell of a scary statement to a world audience.

The story is fine, but the audio is horrible. The reader actually whispers when the characters are whispering and you can’t hear her! So there are entire dialogues you only hear half of.

Much better book than the first, focusing more on characters (introducing some interesting new ones) and their interrelation, also includes bit of sleuthing. Dips more into what the lives of those working for the gods looks like, which I think more interesting than the gods themselves which featured heavier in the first book.
