About this audiobook

The only good Secret is a buried Secret.

Secret McQueen, Book 3

Secret McQueen has hunted vampires, werewolves, and every conceivable supernatural menace-to-society. Seen it all? Not even close. When the queen of the were-ocelots comes to her for help finding a missing girl, the half-vampire/half-werewolf soon realizes how much she has to learn about the things that go bump in the night.

The case of the missing cat is one thing. Pile it up with her new duties as a Tribunal Leader, her tenuous position as mate to the king of the Eastern werewolves, and a slew of new (and unwelcome) supernatural abilities, and Secret is once again in familiar territory. Way over her head. But for this multitasking half-breed, it’s business as unusual.

What knocks her for a loop, though, isn’t her lover’s intoxicating kiss. It’s the missing memories rushing at her from out of nowhere, signaling a rapidly approaching fork in her destiny. Her choice will affect not only her life, but her love.

Product Warnings
Contains a werewolf king with wandering hands, a creepy English professor with nefarious plans, and one hell of an unexpected gala evening at Columbia.

What our readers think

Readers find this title interesting and worth the read. The book explores the personal life of the protagonist and introduces a love triangle, which some readers find frustrating. There are also concerns about issues of consent in the story. However, readers appreciate the inclusion of the protagonist's ex and find it interesting. Some readers dislike the arrogant nature of the main character and find her progression through the ranks unrealistic. Overall, the novel is enjoyable despite these flaws.

Had to stop reading this book. Basically felt what Lucas did to Secret was a form of rape. Then she just makes excuses for him. It’s just to close to battered women making excuses for their abusers. Abuse of power should never be ok despite the reasons given and it should never be excepted. Her acceptance of it made the rest of the series unreadable for me. A true heroine would never had anything to do with him again.

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in the series, and I was eager to read this one. Sadly, the dynamic of the relationship between Lucas and Secret was disappointing, infuriating, and honestly made the book difficult to finish. Other than that specific relationship, the mystery of the plot was great and the rest of the characters felt true to the previous books.

I enjoyed the novel, but I despise Secret. She is arrogant and quite frankly, he ability to raise up through the ranks with each novel is ridiculous.

I’m trying to enjoy this book. Dean wants a strong female character. But when Secrets decisions are taken from her, she basically says ‘I understand why he did it.’ A strong female character would have rained down hell for what was done to her.

Secret is asked to investigate/ find the missing neice of an elder. However, things in her personal life are heating up. When Lucas moves things forward, without offering explanations to Secret, it gets worse.
I get so frustrated with the triangle. I want both for her. Why does she keep saying that would make her a slut? There are some major issues with consent in this book. Almost to the point where I am Team Desmond instead of Lucas. It was interesting that they brought her ex-Gabe into the storyline. He was referenced in other books but you definitely learn more here.

What was the deal with the disgusting rape analogy and its subsequent apology? If there's one thing that makes me gag it's reading apologies and justifications for what a rapist has done (and lets be real, it may not have been rape as it's usually defined, but if we did live in a paranormal word that would constitute rape). Now not only has he completely violated her and proved again and again that he's a manipulative waste of sperm, but she's going to marry him?!

I'm reading the next book in hopes he'll die a horrible death!
