Description

Today, I am incredibly fortunate to welcome a dear friend of the show, the one and only Dr. Pompa. He is a respected leader in the field of functional medicine, educating practitioners and the public on the origins of inflammation-driven disease, the therapeutic application of the ketogenic diet, fasting, ancestral-based health approaches, cellular healing, and detoxification.  Dr. Daniel Pompa received his undergraduate degree in communication from The University of Pittsburgh, and his doctor of chiropractic degree in 1995 from Life University. He is the author of the books Cellular Healing Diet and Beyond Fasting and he hosted a weekly Cellular Healing TV Podcast and YouTube show.  In this episode, Dr. Pompa offers insights into debates and practices shaping our understanding of optimal well-being. The discussion unfolds by examining plant toxins, lectins, and anti-nutrients as Dr. Pompa dives into the ongoing discourse surrounding their perceived dangers and potential role in diseases and autoimmune conditions. Plus, Dr. Pompa advocates for a personalized approach, emphasizing the importance of listening to the body's signals and adapting to environmental or dietary stressors. Tune in as we chat about cold therapy, where Dr. Pompa challenges the misconception of a universal three-minute rule, underscoring the individualized nature of optimal exposure. This episode is about a more personalized and nuanced approach to holistic health.  Free 5 Day Keto Challenge With Dr Eric Berg, Cynthia Thurlow, Ben Azadi & The Keto Kamp Team: https://www.ketokamp.com/keto-challenge Download your FREE seed oil allergy card here: http://www.seedoilcard.com  Join Ben Azadi's 90 day heavy metal detox program (11 spots available): https://ketokamp.clickfunnels.com/order-page-a  / / E P I S O D E   S P ON S O R S  Wild Pastures: $20 OFF per Box for Life + Free Shipping for Life + $15 OFF your 1st Box! https://wildpastures.com/promos/save-20-for-life-lf?oid=6&affid=132&source_id=podcast&sub1=ad BonCharge: Blue light Blocking Glasses, Red Light Therapy, Sauna Blankets & More. [00:20] The Debate on Plant Toxins: Insights on Health, Adaptation, and Cultural Diets -       Dr. Pompa acknowledges that there is a discussion in the health space regarding the dangers of plant toxins, lectins, and anti-nutrients. Some individuals argue that these substances are the root cause of diseases and autoimmune conditions. -       Dr. Pompa points out the logical inconsistency in blaming plant toxins for health issues, considering the historical and cultural variations in diets. -       Many cultures have thrived on diets that include plant-based components, such as the Mediterranean diet, suggesting that plant toxins may not be the sole culprit. -       Dr. Pompa introduces the concept that, like any stress applied correctly, exposure to plant toxins can have beneficial effects. -       He suggests that small amounts of these toxins, when ingested, may act hormonally, applying stress to the microbiome and potentially making it stronger through adaptation. [03:45] Understanding Body Signals in Response to Stressors and Dietary Change -       Similar to various stressors like hot or cold exposure, fasting, and exercise, the key is to listen to the body and observe how it adapts. -       Dr. Pompa emphasizes the importance of paying attention to one's feelings and symptoms as indicators of the body's response to different stressors, including dietary changes. -       Dr. Pompa questions why many people today react to certain foods while previous generations did not. -       He suggests that the cause may be an inflamed gut and microbiome. However, he argues that the current focus on plant toxins might be misplaced, and the real problems could be other toxins, such as glyphosate
