The NCAA Independent Resolution Panel has finally announced their ruling for the LSU men's basketball and football programs after an investigation into the athletic department revealed several NCAA violations including recruiting violations, allocation of impermissible funds, and lack of institutional control including violations from former men's basketball coach Will Wade and former football coach Ed Orgeron. The ruling seems to be fairly favorable toward LSU: three year backdated probation that ends in September 2023, one fewer basketball scholarship in each the 2024 and 2025 seasons, and vacated football wins between the 2012-2015 seasons. The punishment from the NCAA was lessened by a self-imposed bowl ban, firing Will Wade, and the vacated wins. Overall, it does not seem to impact either the men's basketball program or football program too heavily into the future.
