Description

Susie Miles didn't make a sudden pivot to leave her television job after 20+ years. She exercised what we called a "Slow Burn Pivot" where she planned for 4 years for her career pivot. She wanted to make sure she was ready in all ways, mentally and financially. And because of her planning, she has found herself successful and FREE.Here are some takeaways from our conversation today:1. Signs that it may be time for a pivot - Constant Feelings of restlessness, that there has to be more, and feelings of what am I doing wrong that I feel this way.2. Utilize the Slow burn pivot - if you need, take time to prepare yourself financially and mentally to make a big change.3. All little steps toward something new eventually start to become reality.4. It’s natural to feel nervous as you are getting ready to pull the trigger on your pivot. But set a time/date that you are going to do it so that it is firmly in your mind and plan. Otherwise it could drag on and on.5. In order to get clarity on the next thing you are going to do, just try some things on, Your first try may not be it, but keep at it. You may even marry two of your interests together into one new path.6. While you may go through a period of being scared or afraid, once you have made the commitment to a pivot, you can expect a feeling of excitement and freedom.7. When you are working on something that feels more in your path, it feels a lot less like work and get you into the flow. 8. Don’t let fear grip you. Even if you only work on that pivot 5 or 10 minutes a day, it really helps to break down that fear. Doing just a little bit every day - leads to the most amazing outcomes. 9. You’ll never get rid of fear, but let it exist NEXT to you, not in front of you where it can block you. 10. Start paying attention to the feelings  and reactions you have in certain situations. Notice your triggers of jealousy, anxiety. This will help you pinpoint some issues that you may be having about making your pivot.11. Pivots don’t have to be HUGE. You could make little pivots here and there to build up your Pivot muscle. And you are allowed to use that - we all need to work on our Pivot Muscles.12. Getting tired of your own procrastination is a real thing. Tell yourself to Just DO IT already!13. If you feel that after 50 that everything is downhill from here, that is so not true.
