Description

KICKSTART NEUROPLASTICITY: SAY Yes to NOIt sounds simple but it is not easy. Start where you feel your greatest resistance. For example, I really really hate cold showers and did not think I could ever have one. I was the person that had the shower at maximal heat. I made myself start the Wim Hof course. It became very clear I was totally wrong and after a few days of training myself - there I was standing in a cold shower for 2 minutes. Like most things in life, as soon as I thought I knew something I was wrong. Try to start to notice what you say no to, pay attention to your conversations. Know that everything is shaping your brain and either guiding you into or out of your comfort zone. To kick start neuroplasticity. Try saying one YES to a normal definite NO. There is nothing to lose and your brain will thank you.For example: 1. Trouble with a person at work or a yelling-type teenager conversation. Try this. Pause. Push your shoulders back. Then smile at them. Because of mirror neurons, they have to smile back. They don’t expect you to smile. You have disarmed your enemy and a new type of relationship has started. 2. Mondayitis: try taking a different route to work and see how it makes you feel. 3. “Meditation/mindfulness is not for me” Try this. Take a deep breath for a minute everyday. Welcome to being mindful. 4. I cannot run to save myself. Walk for 1 min and then walk a little faster for 30 seconds. You are now jogging etc.It all starts with the simplest baby steps to get new brain synapses growing and over time and with practice it adds up and then you have a new hardwired connection that is a new neural pathway. I am addicted to brain rewiring. LOL!.Support the showLearn more at www.profselenabartlett.com
